Laptops arent that bad. You can take em to any place with a wireless adapter (like a friends house) and show them how much they're missing. I have already gotten 2 friends to buy haloPC by doing that. I dont really know about all that, but ive got a 3 year old laptop that runs HaloPC, CS, Empire Earth, and CE just fine.

not too fast,

i may be mistaken, but i am pretty sure that the GeForce 6100 is either integrated, or it shares memory with the computer. what brand is the computer you're getting? and i'd also opt a smaller hard drive for more memory (ram) and possibly a dedicated graphics card.

Depending on your budget, you could do better. If you buy your own parts and even have someone else assemble it, it'll be much better, and cheaper.

Didn't you already post this? I spent quite a bit of time on this post, and don't feel like rewriting it.

But with the updated information...

Emachines...watch out there. They only recently began using medium-quality parts in their computers, but in my mind, I still see them as cheap cop-outs. Make certain that the warranty's at least a year in length, even longer if possible, since Emachines aren't known for being the most reliable brand on the planet.

Like I said before, in my previous post, if you have integrated graphics, make absolutely sure you have enough RAM for it. The integrated will likely share RAM, meaning your 512 physical will be chopped down to only 380 or something avalible...which will make Halo a living hell. Trust me.

I looked up the Video card: It is integrated. Integrated Video cards mean you better save for a new one. Don't stick with the Integrated. Emachines is a good computer, I used to have an old one, and it was a good one. They are allot better than Gateway.

What? Play a game? FOR FUN???
This concept of fun confuses and infuriates me!

My parents have an Emachines brand...
About 3 times better than this pos Dell im using.
The worst part is they wont let me install Halo on it!

Mrr...Dell and Emachines are basically similar in terms of quality and the type of parts they use.

I used to have an old T1090...man that thing sucked. Only had a Celeron at a disgraceful 1.4, an Intel Integrated, and only 256 RAM.

If you buy a computer from bestbuy theres a 95% chance it will have integrated graphics. They only have like 2 computers at the store near me and the cards suck.

I think the reason everyone says that laptops suck for gaming is because they are 100x more expensive than a desktop computer of the same specs.

I can't imagine how that can be true if Gateway owns EMachines and uses them for their share in the lower-end market. If you're going to try to play games on a computer, stay away from big brand names.

Try ABS Computers , they are affordable and also have received good reviews in pc magazines.

I have an easy answer! Get a new 20 inch flat panel Intel iMac! Mac OS X and Windows XP, perfectly capable of running Halo, great, strong system, you can't go much better. Get it! I'm serious!

I didn't say XP was a computer. It's an operating system. You should get one of those hybrid iMacs. Stronger system than PCs, and you can run Windows XP on it. You can forget you even have Mac OS.
