Reread my thread. I'm not going to keep explaining things to you because you're not smart enough to get it the first time.
How nice of you to insult me.
Apparently people prefer to be able to say what they want and deal with the consequences than not being able to say what they want.

It's pretty hard to say who is more in the wrong here. The people who incited the violence or the people who committed it. Equal blame seems in order.

Equal blame? Why should someone who made a video (either for comedic purposes who to get a message across) be blamed because a bunch of people started PMSing over it?

That becomes a slippery slope scenario, as you would be suggesting that to limit violence you will be suppressing opinions and thought. If someone wishes to find a reason to be violent from then on, they can blame their actions on an others opinions.

Still beyond idiotic, like that guy who got sent to jail for being drunk and posting an offensive joke on facebook. You can't defend our justice system for that one.

I've never understood free speech, you should have a right to share an opinion, but in a civilised way, not shouting curses at blacks/theists/atheists etc.

Yeah... I'm that cool.
Robot Academy. Kinda sorta the best group on here.

The US is far from the only country that protects freedom of speech.

Assuming you're talking about U.S. law, there are limitations.

Sure, they can blame it on the opinoin of someone else, but it wont hold much merit at that point.

So then why limit a persons freedom of speech to appease someones hurt feelings. After all the scenario with the video and muslims, is of personal opinion, on both sides, there is no actual slander since there is no facts being called into question.

Freedom has no limitations.

Tears of joy.

Hmmm, I don't know what to say...

Okay, blatant hate speech is so frowned upon in society that it's basically outlawed, but threats are legally punishable if people believe safety is at risk. Banning mild speech against specific groups is just rediculous.

There is limitation on Freedom of Speech, you could go to court on offending someone depending on what you say. The only place in this country where you can have total freedom of speech is Congress. When they're in session they can say anything they want, even if it's a flat out lie that would get you jail time if you said it outside Congress. They can say anything while they're in session. The rest of us have limits on what we can say. The classic example is not being allowed to yell "FIRE!" in a movie theater.

With all the Anti Jew, and anti Black, anti Muslim, anti same sex relationships, anti religion/atheist talk that has sparked so much violence throughout history, you would think people would learn to limit free speech.

The notion of slander is irrelevant. You still have a situation in which people are highly offended and it resulted in deaths. The people who made the video know very well that Muslims will take it seriosuly, so I think it's valid to pin the blame on them.

No it isnt, then you have removed the possibility to defend any of the concepts of freedom of speech, when you prosecute someone for their opinion, because it offends the feelings of another person, because they respect their opinion.

As per Muslims and the reactions, this is a problem they have long faced, and is not actually a common thing as so many think. They are so large in congregation, that the groups that riot and loot over having their beliefs question and mocked, are in the minority. The solution to the problem, in other countries, is not limiting the rights of others, but expanding their rights, knowledge of everything around them. The Muslim nation was once one of the most educated, and well traveled and best economic wise at one point in history, while Europe floundered in hate and greed.

he extremists incite the issue, not peoples opinions.

Quote and leave. People are being forced to remove 'offensive tweets/posts because their opinions are hurt', which is limiting the given free speech.

Twitter and Facebook are allowed to do that. The First Amendment says the GOVERNMENT can't limit speech. Neither Twitter nor Facebook are government entities.
