I am a pharmaceutical scientist. I received my Masters degree in Pharmaceutics from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in 2010, after working as a Pharmacist for 4 years. I currently work in King of Prussia, PA, and focus on the analytical chemistry of small molecule APIs. My clients include some of the most well known big pharma companies in the world.
People seem to forget that when Halo 3 came out, CoD's online popularity was only just beginning to be established and Battlefield wasn't really even in the discussion. Fast forward 5 years, and the FPS landscape has changed greatly. There's simply TOO MANY options for gamers today.
Even if 343i said that their next game was going to be a straight up Halo 3 remake with HD graphics; it releases and scores a 10 out of 10, critically acclaimed by users and critics alike...It's still never going to get back the population that Halo 3 had at its peak, because there are simply just more options now.
If you play Battlefield, Halo, or CoD, you understand that all three have a particular brand and style of gameplay that you prefer. There's next to nothing that is going to convince gamers at this point to break allegiance to the series they love.
For what it's worth, I've rated Halo 4 as "incomplete". I'm waiting to see what happens with the TU and ranking system. However, Halo 3 is still my all-time favorite. I just accept the reality of the current FPS landscape, which is a reality that many here fail to accept.
