Subject: I think master chief likes 343 more than bungie...

I wanted to become a recognized member of the flood, then I took an arrow in the knee.

He is so talkative in halo 4. In the other halos, he said like...one word or phrase per mission. "I need a weapon..." was the longest phrase he ever said. I think the chief is more comfortable with words in halo 4. Anyone else notice this?

He spouts pointless inferred diologe in Halo 4. I'd rather him not speak at all.

  • 12.27.2012 10:03 AM PDT

He's better off a mute. Feels like he's a child that needs to be told everything.

In the name of God
Impure souls of the living dead
Shall be banished to eternal damnation
AMEN

He talks too damn much.

Soon to be breaking news:

US Coast Guard prepares for massive rescue mission after Iranian fleet sinks off shore. Reports say a small thunderstorm caused most of the ships to simply...fall apart.

Good. He was a terrible character before.

Stop banning me please.

He is still shy but I think he is taking speed now.

This world wants to drag you down... And the weight, that guilt they want to hang around your neck, you don’t have to carry it one more step. You think they won’t let you rest, but it’s not up to them. It never was.

There is no greater catharsis than arguing on the Flood.

Did you come up with "inferred dialogue?" It's a really direct description for how concisely your wrote it. Spot on.

I'd hesitate to even call him a character. He was an emotionless brick.

He still is a brick, except now he actually has some emotion.

He's a soldier that needs a mission and Cortana gives him the information needed, how is he supposed to know what to do on a forerunner planet?

  • 12.27.2012 10:29 AM PDT

Bones of my enemies.

Giving him emotions and character development is fine, but 343 has no idea what they're doing. Chief had pointless lines that were cheesy as hell, the story with Chief actually believing Infinity was in the center of planet was stupid as hell.

Since he never talked much before, his lines when he did speak were always badass. And he did have emotions in Bungie's games....Johnson's death at the end of Halo 3? Yeah we saw some right there for example.

this. MC knows even less than the player does (assuming the player read the books). how is he supposed to know what to do?

I'm still waking up, can you explain your statement further? If you are agreeing with the statement i made, i just felt that everything that came out of Chief's mouth during the game was already inferred to the player based upon events in game and because of other character's dialogue that preceded his dialogue.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

In Halo 4, it feels more like he's a teenage girl going through high school drama rather than a soldier. His personality made a giant 180 degree turn in the wrong direction in Halo 4.

.....The Chief didn't say a thing though. Admittedly he just started blankly as Johnson died.

Anyway, I liked how he talked more in Halo 4. Even if he isn't such a mute anymore, it felt... natural. 343 did good!

He still managed to move conversations along with minimal words , though. My favourite is, "No Sir."

This.

OT: 343 doesn't fully understands the Chiefs character.

And what makes you, or anyone here who has had no experience working on the Halo series, so informed and understanding about John as a character?

Oh yeah, nothing... It's nothing but arrogant pub gossip.
