You're like a slinky. Good for nothing, but you bring a smile to my face when I push you down the stairs.

I'll be getting Skryim + Arma II (the one with Op: Arrowhead) + Audiosurf for roughly $60.

Thoughts?

Okay guys. I'm looking to increase my computers gaming performance, so I have a question.

My current set up is -

Radeon HD 7770
X4 965 BE CPU

Now, I want to know, would I get more FPS in games (in general) by adding a second Radeon HD 7770 card, or by upgrading my cpu to the AMD FX-8350?

Who the hell do you think I am?

Here's my build!
I'm interested as to why you spend so much on 8GB of RAM, $130 for a 650W 80+ Bronze PSU, a $350 1080p monitor, and $250 on W7.

They aren't bad parts, but for $1700 you probably could have gotten a lot more.
I didn't spend that much, but that's build, I paid around 1500$ for it.
I don't know why the parts are more expensive their rather in my local PC lab...so yeah. Then again, I got Windows 7 with my CPU.
If you got some good deals on it then that's pretty good. Where did you buy your parts?

Why does nobody but myself use TV's as monitors? Just personal preference? I thought it was a nice alternative to buying a new monitor...
I have a 27" Vizio edge lit for a monitor hooked up with HDMI.

It works pretty well but I do a lot of work with MS Excel and the one gripe I've found so far is calculated fields don't fully refresh when you change variables. I have to minimize the screen to get it to come back clean.

I'm betting this is the difference between a TV and a monitor.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think most games don't even support crossfire? I would personally just buy a better card.

So I bought a 24" 1080p TV to compliment my new build, but it has a really weird thing where the brightness changes whenever I'm in motion. Now, I connected my old monitor to my new rig, and this doesn't happen. Im going to return the new TV and get a new one, but I wanted to know if y'all had a guide or something on good TV's/monitors for gaming. Thanks.

I would just purchase a computer monitor and then get a cable box that has HDMI out and use ther DVI with your computer.

How much do you want to spend? You could get a really nice monitor like this which supports 120 Hz, 3D, and has multiple HDMI inputs.

  • 12.28.2012 7:36 AM PDT

Yeah that's a little over budget...but I was thinking something between 2 and 3 hundred 20-26 inches. Thank you for helping.

You'll love the Witcher. Start off on easy and go to normal when you get some good gear

I got my parts from my dad's friend, who works in a computer lab nearby.

I was actually looking at some ASUS ones on sale locally. What specs should I be looking for?

Actually, that's the name of the monitor model. THe brand is Yamakasi.

You can start by reading this monitor guide, which does a better job than I could about what each of the terms means. At your price range, you definitely want an ISP monitor because it delivers a much richer picture than LCD monitors.
