Subject: Did your parents buy you a car?

No, we split the cost. I don't even remember what the total amount was, but it was back in 1996.

Nope. I still need to get my driver's license btw, and then a car. I need to quit being so lazy.

No. Even though it's not a 5.0, the 4.6 V8 is still pretty powerful. Surprisingly, it's been taken pretty good care of.

It's the first car I've ever bought on my own, and I've dropped a lot of money into it so I'd appreciate it if you stop dissing it. Besides, you've never seen it nor have you drove it, so how the hell would you know?

They dyno 220 horespower to the wheels stock, did not respond well to modifications, and had numerous problems, both with parts breaking under only marginal modification or just plain stock.
I have no idea what you're talking about here because the cars history is clean besides a few minor repairs, and since I've had it the only thing that's went wrong is the spark plugs.

There are 2.0L non-turbocharged imports that can outperform that poor car, especially on a track with that terribad solid rear axle.I care why?

By comparison, the new GTs dyno 375 to the wheels. The fourth generation of Mustangs is a stain on the car's history and one Ford fans would love to forget existed.I'm also 18 and don't have 40k+ to spend on a new GT. The Fourth Gen is a good gen. Shut up.

Oh, wait, your username has troll in it. Remind me again of why I'm having this discussion with you?

My grandpa gave me my great grandpa's 1990 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight. Classy as hell.

They bought mine for 800$ because it was a car I've always wanted and was cheap. They also payed for the transmission too since I was 14 and had no job at the time. In lucky that they payed for sonics but now I pay for pretty much everything on my own.

If my grandpa did that to me, I would have punched him in the face.

I also see no problem with the 4th gen stangs. Sure they're not the fastest but they're still fun cars to drive.

The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.

Or did you split the costs? If so; How did you split it?
Split the costs with who?

Everything i own i've worked for. Far too many people get hand outs in this life and aren't grateful for it in the slightest.

Your own anecdotal experience is not the experience of the broader market of owners of fourth generation Mustangs. Like the fact it has quite literally over 100 recalls active.

I care why?

You said you "put money into it". I took that as you modifying it, when it is a poor choice to modify to either go in a straight line or around a corner.

I didn't say you had to. There are dozens of better options with the same pricetag.

Better =/= practical. You're right, I could have bought an Audi S4, mod it, and still be around the same for what I paid for this. However, it was more practical for me to buy a Ford since I work at a Ford dealership.

Meh.. I modified mine with FRPP lowering springs, 3.73 gears, and a tune and it ran fine. Handled well with some wider tires and beat most 350z's/G35's, and kept up with some automatics too. Yea, not the most powerful thing out there but it did good for the little things I did to mine.

I'm sure gears helped, they usually do more than anything else. What was the stock ratio, 3.27s?

Ah, the internet. Where men are men, women are men, and children are the FBI.

I gave my parents $3k, and they bought me a 2009 Nissan Altima (used, but very few miles). I think they ended up spending probably $18K with the money I gave them taken out of that.

Yea. Those gears were damn near useless.

Nope. I'm 19, have my own job, and don't currently live with my parents. I bought my own car about 3 months ago, a 2010 Jetta! :D

All this mad, troll made a legitimate point to you calling your new edge powerful. Explain yourself better next time.
