And that's like... totally your opinion bro.

News flash: not everyone thinks like you. Just because you feel safe doesn't mean everyone else will. I honestly don't how it's such a huge sacrilegious sin to own a gun for self-defense if needed. What is so wrong with being prepared?

*sigh*

That's fine. I know not everyone thinks like me. But my point is there's a difference between "I'll have a gun for home protection; just in case" and "I absolutely need a gun in this city because I don't feel safe."

It's HIGHLY unlikely that such an occurrence would happen in my city.
It's highly unlikely that you'll be struck by lightning, but that happens to people all the time. It's highly unlikely that you'll be attacked by a shark, but it happens. You can never escape the risk, no matter where you live.

The entire Middle East debacle is unethical, yet we don't see soldiers saying "no" to their orders.
Any soldier who performs an unlawful order is/should be tried. Don't act like you understand what's going on over there because you watch the news.

But if in both scenarios result in the owning a firearm or several . . .

You're right, there is a difference.

Don't know what else there is to argue.

With what my Illustrious Senator Diane Frankenstein is proposing is essentially what we have here in Cali as it is. Save for the bullet button ban. That would suck ass. Even more so than what she is proposing.

Get this. The woman carries a concealed weapon, is licensed to do so, and talks about taking down the other guy with her if it came to it. Yet she wants to limit and ultimately remove our right to own firearms.

The NFA registry for all AWs? What the -blam!- is this bull -blam!-? -blam!- you Frankenstein, we don't want what you are selling.

Anybody asks, my guns were lost in a boating accident in the pacific ocean.

That would only work if the "maniacs" acquired those guns through legal methods and went through a background check. This sums up anything else I could say about this, wow.

84% of weapons used are stolen from a law-biding citizen and then used, and that's an argument against gun control? Sheeeit son, we need to take a page from the Canadians and start legislating some minimum weapon storage measures. Bare minimum they should be under lock and key if they aren't on someone's person.

Man, 84%, that's insane. How is it that lax? You can legally get fingered up the *** by TSA at the airport but you can leave an Uzi laying out on your front porch? Let's use some common sense people!

I can't say I'm against that. Close the "gun show loophole" and require an FFL for all private sales. I would support that sort of legislation actually.

Look at us? Getting along and compromising better than congress.

Why not just ban guns like the rest of the world.
that would work out as well as the kellog-briand pact.......

I've lived in California for 20 years and never seen one congressional debate. Do we even do those?

No, because I was voicing an opinion, not an argument.

Want to make it official?

Senator Diane Fienstien is planning a new federal assault weapons ban that will force all people who own a semiautomatic firearm to register that firearm with the National Firearms act. It is still unclear as to whether that will require the mandatory 200 dollar tax stamp that you must pay for every NFA registered item you have. If you fail to register your firearm, you will be in violation of the NFA and be charged with a felony.

This is a complete violation of the, "Shall not be Infringed" part of the working in the Second amendment. It is in clear violation and with luck, easily defeat-able in SCOTUS. With luck we can use the rulings of Heller to advance our cause under the , "Common Use" part of the ruling. Semiautomatic firearms are common use and thus protected under the second amendment.

I'm against most inane firearm legislation, but I would kind of support only if it was free.

No, but she has been asked/challenged.

Would be nice to have them for more than just the presidency.

But I would imagine it would be harder for a more local deal than federal in terms of broadcasting.

So in order to keep the criminals from stealing guns, let's punish the legal gun owners by making it so they can't have guns to get stolen. Genius, let's take away guns from the criminals by taking guns away from people who did nothing wrong.

My house was broken into a long time ago, and the weapons that were held in a storage case were broken into and stolen. Now we have a safe that locks itself shut and can only be opened with a torch if someone tries to drill the lock. Know your -blam!- before you talk it. How do you know these people were just lying their guns around?

To extend on this point, requiring the most indestructible of gun storage cases is impracticle because they also need to be reasonably easy to access in a situation as a home invastion. What good is a firearm when it takes 5 minutes to open a gun safe?

That is what I always thought.

I see a safe as protection, either from rust or fire. You keep your home defense weapons at hand when you need them. I keep my shotgun under my bed with two rounds of 00 buck in the magazine. All I have to do is release the bolt and let it load a round.

You must not own good gun safe if it takes five minutes to open.
