Jethro Tull....

-blam!- YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We could be great friends. And I think you're music is great, quite honestly. Coming from me that's saying a lot (my post history will testify to that). What tuning are you using?

Thanks for taking the time to listen dude, what other artists do you listen to?

Billy Squire
The Black Crowes
Bob Dylan
Bob Seger
Boston

The Doobie Brothers
Eagles
Doors
Elton John
Clapton
Fleetwood Mac

I'm getting too nostalgic but yeah. If that gives you an idea of what I listen to.

Oh hell yeah. I'm not as much into the heavy metal genre, but I think they're great. Honestly they're one of the only metal bands that I like.

You know your second song sounds like Winter Time by Steve Miller. Pretty sweet.

Hey you never know. I'm mainly just so interested in this little thing you've got going on because just by listening to your songs, if you really did write those, I can tell you've got some real talent. How long have you been playing guitar?

Yeah dude, I wrote those.
I've been playing for I think two and half years now.

Damn, that's pretty good. I'm impressed. You're using a capo, which fret?

Anyway keep that up bro. If you want some advice, I would try listening to Led Zeppelin a lot and try to get a sense of their musical talent. If you really listen to them and really dissect what's going on in the songs, I bet you anything you will be surprised with what you find. I've learned a lot about song writing just by listening to them. I think it would do you a lot of good.

Really the reason why I say that is because a lot of song writers kind of get stuck into this "chords are the only way to make songs" kind of mindset. If you can teach yourself to avoid that kind of thinking before it happens, you'll become a much better musician than most. I would say you're headed in the right direction, but just keep going that way. Use the whole guitar neck. Don't just use the first 5 frets. If you don't know how to use the whole neck, don't worry. Practice will get you there. There are SO many artists out there that hardly ever use anything outside of the first 5 frets, and it's really saddening to me. The guitar is a versatile instrument and the possibilities are limitless. Experiment with new chords. Try different tunings. Make something that's never been made before. That's what Jimmy Page did, and that's why Led Zeppelin is arguably the single greatest rock band of all time. Listen to The Rain Song and you'll know exactly what I mean.

Ha ha, I'm actually not using a capo at all.
But yeah, I love Led Zeppelin. I learned the Rain Song at one point and my friend and I played it for a week or so.

But really, thanks dude. I wish everyone tried to be as helpful as you.
Maybe you could become a fan of my ReverbNation page or something so you could hear more songs?
