So many things.

Two Door Cinema Club
Turmion Katilot
The XX
The Mystery Jets
And a whole lotta other bands.

none of those are popular

hell, I've never heard of any of them.

I thought Two Door Cinema Club and The XX were popular? At the very least there was a lot of attention for The XX when their new album came out this year.

Poker, before the Hold Em tournaments became big thanks to ESPN it was like pulling teeth to get my buddies to play cards, now they're all self professed "experts". :/

Pokemon!

I had a good family friend who used to do a lot of business in Japan. He brought me back a plastic Charizard toy in like 1996/7? About a year later I was buying first edition packs of the cards from right off the shelves. Then shortly after, it was huge!

Mass Effect series. I had the first game pre-ordered with limited edition. Well before the game series became as well known as it is today. I have been an active fan of that series before day 1 of it's release.

The Slender Man. I remember when he was just a few pictures on Something Awful, and now all I hear about is that retarded Slender game.

This, definitely this.

"I can accept failure, everyone fails at something, but I can't accept not trying." - M. Jordan

There was a show called Nip/Tuck. I watched from the start. It didn't really take off until it's 3rd season. By then the writers sold out and the show became a huge gimmick.

I also liked Air Force Ones because Rasheed Wallace use to wear them when he played for Portland. Then rappers started wearing them and they became a gaudy shoe.

Yep. I remember Slender Man back in the fall of 2009. I couldn't sleep the first night I heard about him. Started drawing pictures of him the next day all throughout school.

"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle- victorious"

Minecraft. I still remember playing the beta.

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

Rooster Teeth. Way back before they made Achievement Hunter and all that. I think I started watching RvB around Season 2.

The Souls games apparently. I remember there was only a small handful of people here who were excited for Dark Souls back when it was still called Project Dark (I think it was Darcsyde and I and a few others), and nowadays everyone acts like it's the second coming.

And PlatinumGames in general. I was a fan of them back when the were still Team Viewtiful at Capcom. At least everyone acknowledges they are amazing now. It feels good.
The souls one is me.

On December 1st, 2012, I met Neil deGrasse Tyson. I shook the man's hand, and even made him laugh. Not much else to do with my life now.

No one admits it, but everyone loves being the first on the train.

For me, it was Gravity Falls and The Catcher In The Rye.
Considering Catcher In the Rye was published over 60 years ago, it is hard to believe you liked it before it was popular.

It's just now becoming really popular at my school, and I liked it when it was unheard of here.
That's because most people don't read that book outside of school.
