13.72 billion years in the making.

On December 1st, 2012, I met Neil deGrasse Tyson. I shook the man's hand, and even made him laugh. Not much else to do with my life now.

I'm serious. And I -blam!- hate realists.

You seem to have a severe distaste for logical reasoning and efficiently producing conclusions based on observation and data. Why on Earth you'd look down upon realism, a very productive, healthy mentality, is something I don't at all understand. And I don't want to be a jerk, but you seriously need to brush up on debating, and how to do it effectively.

RIP Logan ~B.B.

The point is to ensure continued existence. That is what all life we know of strives to do, without exception. We happened to get the point where basic existence is pretty well assured, so we can focus on greater things like guiding our own advancement. If there is ever an end to that, I don't know, but it sure isn't even conceivable at this point, so not worth worrying about. Either way, the basic goal remains unchanged, make each generation stronger than the next.

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

What's the point of having a point?

Well... it's... erm...

The point is to love your fellow human being.

I cant do that.

OT: Why should there be a point.
We just are here, sucking earth out of it juices and die eventually.

If you honestly think that is the goal of Humanity then there are A LOT of selfish people on this planet.

Posted by: Garem
Then you're not fulfilling humanity's ultimate goal. You're just being selfish.

Most of humanity is selfish, but they pretend they aren't. These phonies are one of my main qualms with modern-day society.

Silly hippies.

The purpose of life is to be happy.

The cake is a pie

It is a very broad question. It can be and has been aimed in dozens of different ways. Do you mean the collective goal of all people, or the singular goal of myself? Or do you mean a goal that was given to us by a higher purpose? Do you mean in terms of why we are here in the first place? Do you mean what constitutes the good life? Do you mean how do we deal with suffering in life?

If you'd care to read, then I'm afraid that I don't really know anymore.

A competitive players main goal is to win.
A casuals main goal is to have fun regardless of whether that results in a win or loss.
It has nothing to do with individual skill or knowledge, it has to do with the reason you play.

To be happy.

The problem with science people like you is that they think that "proof" is the start-all and end-all. Things can exist without proof of their existence.

Life in my opinion is just life, a biological fact that we, to some unfortunate way, try to change, we just live, reproduce(If you get too) and die but we can use this chance for good or evil.

However this leads to what defines 'good' or 'evil' as these are just sociological viewpoints.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

There is no point.
That is the point.

But try answering this question:

Why is there something, instead of nothing?

I'd like to know how you concluded that they exist without having any indication of their existence.

We have proof of quantum physics (double-slit experiment for example).
Without the discovery of quantum physics the modern computer wouldn't have been invented.

Why cant the forum answer a simple question ... duh.

The point appear just above the letter 'i', almost smack bang in the middle of the word.

In Medieval Latin it was known as the "titulus".
(from whence we now get '-blam!-', the nipple being the titulus)
Current day it is the tittle, when used as a diacritic, punctuation.

I prefer the Hebrew yud, a small suspended point which reveals the spark of essential good hidden within the letter tet. The essential good becomes less hidden when you make it into a smiley face.

I know there are parts that have credible evidence for proof, but the vast majority of quantum physics is still theory.

And ive never heard that modern computers cam from QP, or are you referring to the new quantum computers?

I am a pharmaceutical scientist. I received my Masters degree in Pharmaceutics from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in 2010, after working as a Pharmacist for 4 years. I currently work in King of Prussia, PA, and focus on the analytical chemistry of small molecule APIs. My clients include some of the most well known big pharma companies in the world.

We're really just here for the purpose of simply existing.

The Flood is just this awesome :D

To live and gain knowledge. There isn't an exact purpose of life, but the only things we can do is advance in the knowledge of our universe and learn how to survive in it adequately.

That is, if you aren't religious.

Why does life have to have a point to begin with? Does the act of living somehow lose meaning just because life - as a natural phenomenon - does not have purpose? One could, for example, find more fulfillment in the fact that their "purpose" does not exist until they create it themselves. One could be humbled by the fact that the universe does not consider them important enough to imbibe them, and all other life, with a singular purpose.
