Anyways thread maker... are you a casual gamer? You won't like it if you think 'oh I'll just play this every now and again.' Oh no. This is a game you need to sit down and be a tryhard at. But is it worth that effort? ... Absolutely 100%.
Is success more skill-based or level-based, if you know what I mean?'Skill.' Sort of.
The entire game can be beaten at level one. It just wouldn't be very fun and it would be pretty tedious.
The entire game is based around strategy. Every enemy, from bosses to basic creatures, has a weakness and a movement/attack pattern. In Dark Souls you have to learn every pattern of attack an enemy has so you can know when to strike. The tagline says you'll die a lot. Well... that's true. Learning all this, you'll die hundreds of times. We've all done it. I personally have rage-quit the game on three separate occasions. Mind you they were all on the same boss, -blam!- you Seath the Scaleless.
But once you figure out what to do? Well... once you've got it, you've got it. There's always a strategy to beat something no matter how impossible it might seem. The game is never cheap (well, except for the Capra Demon fight). Any time you die (except Capra Demon) you will know it was your fault. There is no BS in this game. That's really rare. It's just a matter of implementing the strategy correctly. Sometimes it's as easy as flanking an enemy, other times knowing when to run away and block. But there's always a way.
Dark Souls requires thinking, keen observation, and above all patience. But if you're willing to give it the effort, it is a FANTASTIC game. And very rewarding when you figure something out- using the internet ruins it (except for something called 'The Abyss' where you need a special item that is really difficult to figure out without internet help).
Oh, and always increase Endurance when you can. Just saying.
capra demon is easy -blam!-.
bed of chaos is this bull-blam!- part.
