Da Husk.

Are they?

From my experience, indie games have much better communities than most AAA games. Indie games are a hell of a lot more creative and innovative. And I don't normally see indie devs dumbing down or callofdutyfying their games to cater to casuals. Most indie devs seem to actually have thier priorities straight, unlike most devs with publishers.

So Flood, are indie devs better than devs with publishers?

Activision community > Indie community

Most people in "indie communities" are generally up their own ass and refuse to acknowledge the games they like so much are often meh at best.

lolno

Indie games are terrible, most of the time they either try to be a simplistic platformer or a Minecraft clone.

That's a matter of population, not of a specific community. The more people you get, the louder the haters will be. It isn't video game specific. It's just humanity.
Indie games are a hell of a lot more creative and innovative. The ones you notice.
And I don't normally see indie devs dumbing down or callofdutyfying their games to cater to casuals.... Selective memory. There are hundreds to thousands of copy cat indie games. The point is you only notice the ones that are different because- get this- they don't have the advertising of big titles so they only gain popularity by word of mouth for the most part.

You're getting your cause and effects jacked up, mate.

"Apparently people don't like the truth, but I do like it; I like it because it upsets a lot of people. If you show them enough times that their arguments are bull-blam!-, then maybe just once, one of them will say, 'Oh! Wait a minute I was wrong.' I live for that happening. Same can be said for bigger companies too, so really, you're going by assumptions unless you have actually seen the majority of indie games, and in turn the more commercial games. Your argument falls in on yourself.

Indeed there's cruddy indie games, and some are not. Same with so called AAA titles as well (AAA seems to be a rank based on the developers popularity or how much money is put into the game, not its final quality or what makes it stand out).

But I do believe indie games are more innovative at the moment than the commercial games, simply because the video game market as a whole is stagnated with gray shooters.

I don't get how the argument, which was just a statement of facts, falls in on itself...

And the thread maker is saying that there are a ton of triple A games that just copy others. But the thing is, since they ARE AAA games, they get advertised and you hear about them more. You don't hear about the Indie games that are copying things because, get this, the ones copying things generally don't get big enough to matter.

It's a matter of what you choose to see, not of what actually exists.

To expand on this, how many AAA games have recently just said "-blam!- it" and haven't compromised at all just to try and find an audience? I can think of two off the top of my head: Lolipop Chainsaw and Dark Souls.
