Subject: Gun Control (THIS THREAD WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE)

An older gentleman once came up to me and said "There's no creativity left in the world of art, and if there is, I can't find it" and I just laughed and said "Well of course you can't, you can't find something unless you truly believe there is something there to be found." - Pacman

With the recent uptick of mass shootings in America I thought I would share my thoughts on gun control. It's blatantly obvious that gun control isn't the solution to these shootings. Shooters will acquire their guns by any means necessary if they're desperate enough. Taking guns away from the saints of the greatest nation on Earth will not solve any problems. By taking guns away from the ever reliable citizens we will simply leave them defenceless if anything were to happen. What if North Korea were to suddenly invade like in the movie "Red Dawn"? What if the government were to become corrupt? Our guns may not be able to take down government tanks but that's beside the point. But I digress; allow me to continue onto my argument.

My solution is simple. Why don't we make it mandatory that at the age of 13 all citizens go through gun training and upon completion of the aforementioned training by law they must carry a concealed handgun everywhere they go. Think about it, how will a shooter commit any more mass shootings when the moment he pulls out his gun he's pumped with lead by teenagers, the elderly, and everything in between? Not to mention this will give America a second army essentially, and as we all know this is something that America desperately needs if we are to ever continue expanding. This is the only logical way to solve this problem, just look at our barbaric neighbors to the north. While they're still struggling fighting off polar bears using bow and arrows, we're down here cozy in our mansions using automatic weapons.

Exactly, that cinema shooting would've ended much better if everybody had been carrying a gun.

Countries with increased regulation (not restriction) of firearms tend to have less firearm-related homicides per capita.

I wish Americans would stop pretending the only choices were between restricting all guns or letting everyone have an assault rifle. Look at Switzerland, look at Canada, for -blam!- 's sake America, learn from other countries for once /rant

Why not give every 13 year old a handgun? Is this for real?

I wish people would stop equating gun control with taking away everyone's guns.

The Newton shooter was denied a gun several days before the shooting. Gun control works.

Gun control keeps legal firearms out of the hands of people that shouldn't have them, and unnecessarily powerful weapons off the market entirely.

Will they acquire them illegally? Yes. That's pretty much out of our hands, though.

Exactly. With all that tear gas it would have been much better if they had even more guns firing about and wounding and killing even more people. It's obviously the better solution.

Also relevant.

Less than 1% of gun owners own an Assault Rifle. If you mean Assault Weapon, a term coined by the media, then very, very few crimes are committed by assault weapons. Most gun crime is actually the direct result of another ban. This ban is the Drug Ban. Most gun crime is between a criminal, who being a criminal, cannot get a gun legally, kills someone with a gun at a drug deal. This wouldn't happen if drugs were legal but that is another story.

Why should responsible people be restricted? Why should we all have to pay for that one idiot? You guys act like all gun owners are violent murderers.

Because the loss of life from even one school shooting outweighs the loss of whatever you use guns for several million times over.

true.

in fact, Connecticut has an AWB already on the books. did it stop the crimes? nope.

the federal AWB that was on the books did nothing to stop the crimes as well...but it's a feel good law that is guaranteed to pacify soccermoms, even though it's a 100% waste of time and resources from an effectiveness standpoint.

Because the loss of life from even one school shooting outweighs the loss of whatever you use guns for several million times over.

But the problem is, banning a gun won't work. Banning things doesn't work.

The countries that is does work in are not very racially diverse. People don't like to admit it but race plays a factor in all this. Look at Greece. Before the Albanians came there was little crime. Now? There are robberies everywhere. When you have an influx of people with massively different upbringings, like stealing, violence, then a ban won't do anything because they are used to that.

Besides it is already illegal to kill someone, why does it still happen?

While I agree that our military efforts are pointless, defense spending and education spending come from different sources.
