I personally would, don't really like quick time events and it annoys me even more when you don't even get that

Also, please don't bring up his force powers as a justification not to have one in here, we've all heard that argument before

How about a proper Didact instead?

  • 12.28.2012 1:33 PM PDT

I was kind of expecting one the way it was leading up and was actually hoping for one.

  • 12.28.2012 1:34 PM PDT

No. How on earth would Chief stand a chance against the leader of the most advanced beings in the galaxy, and he has the force? A fight with him would have to involve him not using his powers at all which would be stupid.

Chief and Didact could never have a proper fight due the immense gap between the two in terms of power.

I would have most liked an actual fight, maybe ended in a quicktime event. But if a quicktime event is all we could have, I'd have at least liked it to be a bit longer. I was just underwhelmed by the whole thing.

"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle- victorious"

No because FPS boss fights are usually poorly implemented.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

No, just a longer cutscene.

Time flies like an arrow; fruits flies like a banana.

No, but I'd have preferred both Forerunners to keep their combat skin on. It retains at least a shred of the mystery they once had.

Are you serious right now? ... Just because you've heard it doesn't make it any less valid.

There were three options.

1. A cutscene. No player interaction but a continuous sequence going uninterrupted by anything else.
2. What we have, where you could at least interact and feel like you're a part of what is going on.
3. A terrible fight that completely and utterly breaks the 4th wall by the sheer stupidity of the situation.

343 chose #2, obviously the superior choice of #3, though only arguably better than #1. I don't understand why people would rather say '-blam!- the story if it will look cool' than 'tell a good story.' Casuals...

Opinions are like butholes. Everyone's got one, nobody wants to hear about it.

Yes, his death was very anti-climactic.

DeeJ's Challenge

Honestly, I would have just liked a cut-scene because this is not Halo 2.

  • 12.28.2012 1:38 PM PDT

Bones of my enemies.

Pretty sure it was never force powers, so everyone who uses that stupid argument is a dumbass. I read somewhere that it was just some gadget in his armor, hints why we only saw him use his "force powers" when his armor was on.

  • 12.28.2012 1:39 PM PDT

A longer cutscene. But chief wouldn't of stood a chance. But in the next Halo or Halo 6 I would like to see a boss battle with him because I honestly don't think he died in Halo 4. The reason I'm thinking you will stand a chance against him in later games is because humanity will probably somehow upgraded MC or figure out a way to beat him.

I prefer to have an interactive cutscenes than a laughably ridiculous boss battle for the sake of a few more minutes of gameplay

Don't even say the Force Powers would have made it unrealistic. Especially if you're not going to throw in the fact that in the end, his force powers didn't help him much. Cortana could have easily given Chief openings, and there was always the upgrade the Librarian gave him that could have magically popped up out of nowhere when you needed it in the boss fight. Honestly, the quick time event they did give us was a bit underwhelming, but it works.
Well, at the same time, he's going to be back (You didn't actually see him die because he fell to his death. He's alive.), so you never know. It would have been weird to boss battle him in more than one game, if they're planning a boss battle scenario with him at all.
