dude what are you talking about

I'm talking about why his ping is so high. Most likely it's because the signal is being blocked somewhere let that be the router/modem wireless. I'm typing what to do to decrease that signal blockage. It won't be extremely good like 5-15ms but it's better then 200ms.

Since the OP said Cord is not a possible idea this is the next best solution. Of course if the OP just wants to move the pc that's on them.

The next best solution are powered ethernet adapters.

Still have to deal with the computer sending and receiving information. If anything blocks that (router settings, modem settings, computer settings, etc) data it won't matter what you get or plug in.

Are you gelatin?

That's photoshopped.
That's my internet, brother. Would you like me to turn on my computer and run another test?

Yes, and no less than 7 verifiable tests. If you dont, you're lying.

At distances over 50 miles as well. Preferably around 500.

Look at the URL. It says speedtest.net. If he shopped it, how exactly did he re-upload it to speedtest.net, which is not an image hosting site?

I've challenged my beliefs. What is the book about?

I find that this is usually untrue. If religious people honestly, diligently and intelligently challenged their beliefs, there would be no religious people.

Most of your post had nothing to do with latency at all

latency is just inherent to your typical 802.11 standard (a/b/g mostly) because of the way overhead is applied to compensate for the lack of collision detection as well as the lack of full-duplex transmission. Without knowing what standard he's using and what interference from the building and nearby devices may be impacting his signal it's not going to be easy diagnosing the problem, if there is one (which there probably isn't) and forwarding traffic to certain ports is probably not going to help.
I hate you bottom of the page

Are both your router and adapter N compatible? And do you have any devices on your network which are lower than N?

Somehow I doubt he's using n.

Anybody still on G needs to get out of the stone age. Very few devices don't support N today.

Ya... I suppose N really isn't possible.

Could help to fix his problem if he upgraded though. It'd be nice to know exactly what router, modem, wireless adapter he has. Wouldn't hurt to also know his maximum internet speed from his ISP.

we're probably never going to know any of those things.

hopefully he's forwarded all 65535 ports

In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

What wireless band are you running? 2.4 or 5 ghz?

What type of walls are in between the router and your computer?

Are there any other devices causing interference with your network?

Otherwise you may need to cause a reboot of your network.

Without port forwarding enabled, the router has to read the header on each packet coming through to find out where to send it. With forwarding enabled, the router doesn't have to look at the headers on the packets and can instead just send the packets coming in on that particular port straight to your computer. Hence how forwarding can reduce latency especially if you have more than one computer attached to a router.

Port forwarding the router and forwarding the same ports on the outgoing incoming rules of the windows firewall will decrease the latency/ping. It won't be as good as a cord but it will be better then what the OP is getting now.

I can't imagine stateful packet inspection (if that's what he has) causing any more than 5ms of extra latency, tops.

Thread Derailing on Steroids. You guys are incredible.

OT: I actually am inclined to believe he is using 802.11n and has it set to 5.0 GHz. 5.0 GHz doesn't go through walls very well. Also, OP should check for interference like Fluorescent Lights, Microwaves, or cordless phones in the vicinity of the Router or the PC. He should make sure it is set to 2.4 GHz. If power lines are close enough to the building it can also cause interference.

I'm not sure if it can cause latency this bad but make sure the router AND the PC are both set to Full Duplexing. In fact double-check all settings for both to make sure they match. If there's a mismatch, it could be one of the reasons.

Finally, OP should give more info. What's your ISP? What's your router? Is it a Laptop or a desktop? Do you know what kind of Ethernet card you have (802.11a/b/g/n)?
