*Note: I realise that people could abuse this power. Hence option 3. What I am trying to convey with it is an option when setting up a security role. Up high underneath Full Control or something, there could be an option that says "Allow posting of images". That way only trusted members of said group could be allowed to actually post images. Now, onto the post.
Once, in a time past, we were able to post images in our group news articles. Today, this power is absent, due to the overuse of its abilities, and the occasional dirty photograph. I stand before you today to ask the Bungie Community if they would like this power back, albeit lessened to stop spam.
Won't bringing it back just make more Spam?
In answer to this question, yes. People will again abuse it. However, if this feature is brought back in the New Hawtness, it could be possible to restrict its use. How? Under security roles in groups of course. A variety of options to choose from to allow members powers, and an additional IMG tag use could be implemented. This would not stop spam all together, but cut it back significantly, and for larger groups who already have their ranks sorted and which members has what rank (Like Sapphire) this would make IMG spam almost non-existent.
Sure, that settles that, but it doesn't stop people from getting a nude in or two before being banned from the group..
The answer to this is simple. If Bungie (Or, the Webteam as it were) added a filter for IMG (As all photos must be presented in a form of url as far as my knowledge goes) then that site would be blocked if Bungie picked up on it. This would stop the member, and maybe issue a slight automatic warning from the soul. This is why I suggest only in News Posts, as Bungie is still allowed powers in those (I don't think they are allowed powers in groups?). Anyway, if a site hasn't been blocked, simply report it and it gets added after a Ninja or other mod sees it. Simple.
Thank you for reading my argument on why IMG should return. I would love to get some Cyanide and Happiness comics in my news updates if this were to occur.
Farewell!
