Subject: Do you think the next gen xbox will use terabytes?

I wanted to become a recognized member of the flood, then I took an arrow in the knee.

The average byte size for memory jumps up every generation of video game consoles. Do you think it will jump up to the mighty terabyte for the xbox 720?

Muffins are just ugly cupcakes

It's likely, but maybe not for the standard console.

One of my friends has one of those 3rd party hardrives with 1tb for his Xbox 360.

Not at start, but eventually.

I think they should just let us use our own HDD's instead. I'd rather they simply give us 250GB, and let us expand it with whatever capacity and speed we desire.

I hope they at least offer the standard console with 250 GB instead of the 20 GB bs that 360 has. Only reason I haven't bought a new HDD is because 720 draws near.

Agreed. It would be nice if the 720 would come with standard, interchangeable parts to upgrade performance.

Rather than using terabytes, I'd rather they allow us to use our own hard drives so I could use my terabyte drive. Though, Knowing Microsoft, they'll probably release a console with more storage, not allow you to use your HDD, and jack the price up.

Sounds like a P.C. to me.

What do you mean by memory in this context anyway? RAM or drive space? Mentioning generations seems strange since the Xbox was the first console to have a drive built-in.

You do know that Valve announced something just like that...

They have to if they want a box where you're going to have Day 1 digital downloads. Unless they're not going to aggressively pursue that path which would be really dumb considering Sony and even Nintendo are way ahead of them in that regard.

I think they'll introduce a 1TB HDD at same point.

I'd never need to expand that -blam!-. I'm still using an original run Xbox 360 (once replaced after an RRoD, so it's probably got a new chipset) and that HDD is only, like, 20 gigs. Nowhere near enough.

Consoles are just PCs that you can't upgrade, but is guaranteed to run any game on the platform

Probably not.

Well the Orignal Xbox had 3GB of storage and the 360 only had 20GB (or none at all) so I wouldn't expect a TB of storage.

Probably a 60GB pov pack and 500GB elite or something.

I think the next console will be just 2009 hardware.
