I hope you die in a fire.

I personally really like the character that Jason is. He is inexperienced, afraid, and makes wisecracks. Most shooters today play you out as someone who:

A. Rarely speaks

B. Is an unstoppable killing machine (at first)

C. Master of every gun, ever. *

Jason is a bit different, he almost vomits at the sight of a dead body (in the beginning) and makes alot wisecracks, or immature remarks i.e (-blam!-, that is a lot of weed!) (This is -blam!- awesome!) Which I like. One thing I also like, is that Jason becomes noticeably deeper and deeper into insanity throughout the game.

What do you think of Jason?

* Granted, he became Rambo after the first 3 chapters, but oh well.

That speech to the Rakyat made me chuckle.

I like him as a character but honestly, the kid can use a PKP like hes been fighting in the chinese military for a few years. He is a weapons expert from the start and it is kind of weird.

Some video games have stories. Stories have characters. Characters can be reviewed and reflected upon by the player. The player may become emersed in the story and feel emotion towards a player.

Guys, how exactly do you simulate inexperience with guns in a shooter?

A good start is by decreasing accuracy and increasing sway, also it wouldn't hurt by not allowing him to use an LMG and RPG from the start.

Inaccuracy, bad recoil compensation, increased sway with heavier weapons.

Exactly. The developers always create an event that gives the character mastery of the weapons beforehand. I think the case in this game is when Dennis gave him the tattoos, releasing the warrior Dennis said was in him. (magic)

Its called challenging the player, they shouldn't be getting pissed they should be adapting/learning to get better at it.

Keyword, "shouldn't". The average person hates challenge. I love realism in games and I would love for them to implement something like this, however, i KNOW that it wouldn't be a well liked feature.

That's never going to happen now.

What house has a rocket pod, has legs, and has a long narrow barrel that probably shoots something powerful?

Sounds like you're describing the lower half of my body, actually.

I thought he was really well done. It especially helped with his character how he interacted with his friends and the other main characters. The symbolism in the game helped in the way he thought about them. Also, when you take the red pill in the cave, where all his friends are at, you get to see what happened before he goes skydiving.

What I like most about this game, they didn't sacrifice gameplay for story. Well if we aren't talking about those awful QTE of course.

Ignore my gamertag. It's actually Dragonzzilla.

I want to see a game where you're literally a machine built for war but you're starting to learn what sentience is.

No kidding, I couldn't imagine how difficult it must be on the hardest difficulty.

OT: I agree with the OP. Valid points; also somewhat refreshing playing as a inexperience Californian guy.

Who cares if Jason suddenly became a pro at shooting a gun. Having absurd aiming handicaps would have been worse than Farcry 2's malaria and jamming/breaking guns, and that -blam!- was awful.

Yeh man, screw games making you use thought and actually require planning. Screw that, chest high cover shooters all the way.

Yeah because giving me random ridiculous sway would totally push my thought and planning processes to the limit.

This is where you're wrong. In most of the missions, it does take a lot of planning. I've learned first hand that going in guns blazing almost never works (I died a lot doing that). This game makes you think of a different style of tactics to use so you don't get your ass handed to you. I tend to rely on the stealth system and distractions and whatnot.

I spent most of my gametime in Farcry 2 just getting a fresh gun. How is that good at all.

Unless some random update completly changed it, I remember the gun jaming being quite rare and only really happening frequently on the crappy guns you pick up from dead guys. If you get guns from the store they go a long way without even starting to jam.

I wasn't directing that at far cry 3.
