The number of tombstones in Hang Em High match up with the original number of Spartans..

That's not correct. The number of tombstones in Hang em High matches the number of Spartans at the end of FS that are KIA/MIA

There are 68 tombstones on the MP map Hang Em High. Of course, that number by itself isn’t interesting. However, when you subtract 68 from 75, which is the number of Spartan II’s (75 Spartans), then you get the number 7 ... that’s not the abnormal part. At the end of First Strike there are 7 Spartan II’s who aren’t listed as KIA/MIA, which would leave 68 of the original Spartan IIs dead or MIA (Spartans never die:), hence there being 68 tombstones! One can easily find that the Master Chief, Will, Linda, and Fred are alive at the end of First Strike, but that would only add up to 4 Spartans II's. However, when you add to this small group the 3 spartans who weren’t present for the PoA mission because they were engaged on fields of combat too distant to be easily recalled (p.240, TFoR) .Then one comes up with the number of Spartans in the Halo universe, which would be 7, that aren’t listed as MIA/KIA.
Yes, I was just about to post that..I hadn't looked into it recently, and it didn't seem totally right what I was saying..so I googled it, and I found out that 68 is the number of MIA/KIA Spartans.

becuz dis topic is bout how to introduce them we shouldnt be aurguin if they r alive but how to bring them into the game eve though they r prob dead
Edit your damned posts, you are spamming, stop it immediately. Anyway, yes we should be arguing about them being alive or not because if they aren't then what is the sense in trying to figure out how to introduce them?

And MLG, what I mean is this--

You said that on the level Hang 'em High, that there were enough tombstones for all the Spartans, so I said that wouldn't that mean that the Spartans wouldnt be returning? But then you said that it wouldnt mean all of them, so I said you were being confusing, and then you said How so? And something else I forget, but then you said that it would meam maybe in the END, like they would all die in the END. So I was typing something else when you said that, which confused both of us.

So that's pretty much it.

You guys really can' read can you? The damn topic question is How could we "introduce spartans without confusing ppl?" yet you ppl seem to just post nothing but crap on wheather spartans exsist or not. Like dammit ppl why can't you just answer the freakin question? The point of the post was to see wheather we can generate ideas to find a way to introduce spartans since its such a hot topic. But dam you ppl are not capable of that all you do is argue about spartans like dam what the hell does that crap have to do with the topic. The worst thing is you guys know that your off topic but still continue to be immature and post crap. I mean there are like maybe 4 ppl who actually gave idea including myself. So either post a idea or don't post nothing or give suggestions to current ideas that have been said. Please guys this is the first time my topics have ever been this popular and now it just seems it shoud have never been a thread of intrest.

Ok..maybe it means that all the MIA Spartans will die (Kelly, James, etc.)...or i's just a symbolization of sorts?

Nope, the Fall of Reach came out before the first Halo. and did they think up the entire 3 stories b4 the game came out?! im guessing no but hey who knows. this is bungie we're talking aboutHeck yes they did. Well, most likely, since it would help keep the story nice and tight, with no inconsistencies like they'd like it to be.

Don't add any new people. Only new Covenant characters. New human militants if needed, but no Spartans. They weren't in Halo 1 or 2, so why would they be in the third? It's too late to introduce another playable or such a large character.

Who says another spartan would be huge? We all know that the MC is the big hero and any other spartans would just be minor. Who says they have to be big they can be supporting the Chief in his missions. We don't want to play another spartan cause that would steal the light from the MC. The other spartans would be there to make the story cool, inovative and shatter the illusion that the Chief was the last surviving spartan.

Before i actually answer the question, (sorry there buddy i kno a lot of people that post are damn stupid) i must put out there for you all, i disagree with the decision to leave out Spartans but i think bungie has the same thinking, because after First Strike, Will, Fred(blue leader) and Linda were with John/Master Chief on they're way to Earth. If Bungie wanted to introduce them in the game, they would have in Halo 2, but they didn't, probably because they didnt want to confuse people! What i'm sayin is if Bungie wanted to they would have by now, which is truly a shame. Another thing is Bungie told us this is the last game in this PLOT LINE. Read between the lines people. Maybe they will make a seperate series to follow Fred or something.

However, if Bungie did change their minds about that, then I believe it is doable, look at Sgt, Johnson, they never explained his survival, he was dead in Halo: CE so who says they need to explain anything? READ THE BOOKS!! haha thats what they want, so just do it.

Here's how i think they will do it if they do, Hood says chief get back to Earth, the spartans that survived reach are here and they need your help! Good enough explanation to me.

My opinion : Extra would make a kick ass addition to the game if they don't play it out, similar to the cameo's that Johnson or Miranda made in Halo 2, not much actual fighting with them but a few reunions and seperations and reunions, that type thing, but i would hate Arbiter-esque playable characters, but they MUST be included somehow, they aren't as insignificant as people think.

there i'm done.

How Stuff Works: Was the "Halo" story fully realized and segmented into different games, or did you take the story as far as "Halo 1" and when it came time for a sequel, build the story from the ground up?

Pete Parsons: The "Halo" universe has an overarching story that is well thought out and was well thought out before "Halo 2." We have roughly 600 years worth of "Halo" fiction, and we know what happens inside of that universe at any given time. The ["Halo 2"] story itself only existed as notes and was really fleshed out. We know ultimately, at least in the "Halo" universe, where humanity came from, where it's going to, at what point in time it comes in contact with The Covenant [the villains in "Halo"] and what happens well beyond that.

"Halo 2" picks up literally right after "Halo 1." But there is still plenty of story in and around that. And you can see some of that in the three novels we have.

How Stuff Works: The novelization of a video game is, well ... novel. Where does Eric Nyland <sic> get the background for his books?

Pete Parsons: We work closely with him on all the stories. So what we do is we have these story arcs of the "Halo" universe, and Eric goes in and says, "Well that's a really good piece to take and here is in a microcosm what I think that story will look like."

How Stuff Works: Are you guys very conscious to make sure that everything fits together -- that the books and games don't contradict one another -- so that everyone can look to any source and say, "This is very consistent, fully realized world"?

Pete Parsons:Yes, but not in the marketing kind of way. We do it because we want the "Halo" universe to be manifold. You can certainly probably pull out some inconsistencies, but as a general rule we really try to keep it manifold. Because we think that ultimately we are doing this for ourselves. And after that, we're doing it for our fans, and we want them to really believe in this place that is the Halo universe. I think the reason Halo has captured so many imaginations is because we care a lot about what's going on in that universe and how believable that universe is. We have this high level myth that we understand very well.

EGM: You mention Reach; have you read all of the Halo books?

Pete Parsons: Yeah, obviously the Halo fiction. The overarching Halo universe is crafted here, and then guys like...particularly [Halo book author Eric Nylund] has the job of really fleshing out the bones of that particular story arc.

EGM: So somewhere there's a Halo bible that has the basic storyline, including what goes on after Halo 2?

Pete Parsons: Yes, from the present day to the future.

thats freaking awesome, i love bungie. Am i the only one who wants this bible?? haha sorry for being off topic but it's damn awesome.

I HAVE A THEORY!

the reason why bungie hasn't shown any spartans is for the ultimate surprise for they're final game, the flood weren't ever mentioned, ppl just found about them from playing the game. Bungie is insane crazy like that, look at the cortana letters, and all the other stuff, theres easter eggs in Marathon that hint at halo! The whole time bungie has been leading up to this moment, i remember playin halo and finding a bunch of things odd, that didn't add up, like the cloning level and so forth because they never explained any of that. This game will be the book of revelations from the halo bible .

Why would you introduce more Spartans and not have them play a big role. They are Super Soldiers, they own things.

The Authors do know Bungie's secrets. They worked closely with Bungie when they were writing the novels and used the Halo story Bible extensively
