Simple question, do you think that the Didact should've actually succeeded in destroying Earth at the end of Halo 4?

Personally, I do. It would be a pretty bold move on 343's part and it'd give some kind of emotional push behind the rest of the trilogy. Think about it, how much more determined could they have made both the characters and the player to destroy the Storm Covenant and the Didact if the planet had been destroyed? Well, what do you think?

Absolutely

Yes. It would've given the first instalment of the trilogy more impact.

The game's been out for a while. You should've beaten it by now.

Crap, didn't even think about that.

If he had destroyed Earth right then and there, that would've been odd and rushed. That was the last level of the game, there wouldn't have been enough time to let that sink in.

Also, it doesn't really fit with his goals. He wanted to digitize (or whatever) all the people, not just blow 'em up.

Plus, that would be hella jumping the shark.

Even if he did, it couldn't save Halo 4 from being an awful game.

It would help, sure, but it certainly wouldn't keep me playing that terribad multiplayer.

Halo 5 is said be the darkest in the trilogy, i can't imagine how it would be if this happened in Halo 4.

Absolutely, yeah.

I like to play Reach for fun. I hate MLG, campers, armor lock, and team killers because they ruin that fun. Deal with it.

I think that would've been a bit too much. I can see Halo 5 being something like this, but maybe instead, the Infinity is destroyed and everyone on board dies or something. Either way, I can see Halo 5 being the one where the Didact takes his revenge.
