Everything you know is wrong.

I just came across this and was a little creeped out:

First off, I'll start by saying I don't like tribute bands. I don't like the fact that tribute bands are earning money by playing another band's music(like U2 in the example). Now, that's not to say a tribute band's total income is by doing this.

Anyway, I have much angst towards tribute bands, but this is more about community thoughts rather than my own.

So, what is your opinion?

I like how your sub box is full of science and political videos but your recommendations are full of anime girls kissing each other.

Just Zoid being Zoid ^_^

Walk by faith. Dude. Not by sight.

I saw Beatlemania a couple times in the early 80s. The show was actually quite good, including how they handled the changing relationship between Paul and John.

Is there anybody out there?

I would say that I do enjoy tribute bands if they're good. If they're getting paid then they probably are. I don't see what's wrong with getting paid to play another band's music because then they would actually expand the fan base of the covered band and their own, thus creating revenue for both parties in CD sales and live ticket sales.
As a musician myself, if my band got big and I heard that other guys were covering our songs, I would be stoked!! That would be amazing because my band would've influenced other people to a point that they would want to cover our songs!!
True music is about being in the moment of the song... not always about money.
