About me: I am a vicious wolf of a man.

But really am sweet at heart. =)

It's a genuinely good movie. Not quite as good at LoTR, but still very well made, I didn't find the 3D that offensive either.

It was a bit hard to tell what was going on during the fight scenes with the 3D and yes, Jackson could have easily fit it into two movies, and there is a massive lean on CGI, but I still liked it.

I think the main reason there is so much dislike for this movie is people are expecting it to be like Return of the King or Two Towers, but it's simply not to that scale.

You don't see Smaug until later in the book.

I thought it was pretty good.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Had some big problems and really had all the same pieces as Phantom Menace did, yet it came together to still be a good movie. It's a conundrum, but I think most of the hate is on the 48fps/3D combo.

It was great, the majority of complaints rest on 48FPS or the fact that it was more lighthearted.

Those who said the latter clearly haven't read the Hobbit.

Online Gaming's pretty much like a zombie movie. There are a lot of mindless idiots roaming around but you find some survivors on the way.

I loved it. The only complaint I had was the slow beginning, but other than that I had no qualms with the film.

Also the riddle scene is now one of my favourite in all of LOTR.

There is a second and a third movie...

They are keeping it's full reveal a secret till the moment when he meets Bilbo and his gang.

OMG
Master Chief w/o his Helmet!

Stosh <3's me vicariously... at least someone does...

The 3D made a few CGI errors a little more apparent. Like it was really clear in one seen that they didn't animate any water striking or being on the Pale Ork when he was out in the rain, and the light that was flickering on Bilbo in the caves wasn't animated on Gollum in several scenes.

I thought it was good, even though I don't really like "traditional" fantasy settings.

I saw it yesterday....Even though I barely ever saw or read the other LOTR books/movies, I still found it alright. I just found the fact that none of the dwarves died absolutely...irrealist, even for a fantasy movie xD

What was so bad about the Phantom Menace? I enjoyed that movie as much as other other Star Wars...

OMGZZ!!!!!!

"It's Afghanistanimation!"

I really enjoyed it! My Theater did not have the 48FPS 3D. So I saw it in the standard 3D and I thought it was great!

The Hobbit was fantastic. However, while it was a great movie, it does an absolutely terrible job at being a film. It sets up multiple thematic arcs during exposition sequences early on, and resolves them essentially instantaneously at the end without any actual development (restating the original "theme" does not count as "development"). Additionally, every single conflict was resolved by some convenient outside force, rather than the characters who were actually in trouble.

Thought it was great, but it wasn't a very good example of filmmaking excellence.

Haven't seen it yet but read the book. How closely does it follow the book?
