Halo CE quickly became a massive hit and gathered a large following and single handedly launched a console.

Franchises like Mario, Sonic, Zelda while popular with kids never gained the following like Halo.

So do you think Halo made gaming exceptable and cement the industry along side TV and Films?

I think OP means in terms of social acceptability, changing the stigma of the gamer from nerds with pocket protectors to just average folks. Is that what you mean, OP? If so, I might say it is possible.

No, gaming was already mainstream before Halo.
It was mainly seen as a kids industry, now its seen as an industry for everybody.

Because Muslims surgically implant organic bombs in their testicles, which in turn will be injected into women during sex, which will grow into BABY BOMBS!

No, the only reason it seems more popular to you now is because more people can afford gaming consoles.

Not really it is still predominately a kids industry. If you look at the best selling games they are mainly kids games. Even on the xbox 360 you can't really say Halo is the cause for it being more mainstream with teens. The best selling game on the xbox besides Kinect Adventures are 3 CoD games followed by Halo 3. Really if anything Halo is mainly the flagship game for Microsoft due to lack of better games not really it being more mainstream.

Not at all.

Sports games like Madden did that.

It kinda did the opposite of that...

Nope, just to you.

I could argue Super Mario 64 did.

Someone else could argue it was Modern Warfare.

someone else would say Duke Nukem

Also this a lot of kids grow up into adults and still find these games enjoyable. Just because someone like Halo doesn't mean they dislike Mario, Sonic, or Zelda. Hell a lot of people in my high school that barely knew any games knew about those three, but didn't know about Halo. If anything CoD is more popular/responsible than Halo.

Not really because if anything that would go to games people play on smartphones or as Charlie said sports games like Madden.

Considering it was taboo to talk about anything but Nintendo games at school until Call of Duty came out, no. No it didn't.
