No. If you want real moral teachings in the form of good literature, read The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. So much better.[/quote]
The Catcher In The Rye is the best book ever written, though.

If you're saying that, it means you haven't read The Grapes of Wrath.

I read the first few chapters and saw the movie.

You need to read the whole book in order to see what I mean. The movie was watered down, and the best parts of the book (or any book for that matter,) don't happen in the first few chapters.

I might just have to put that book on my upcoming reading list. It is a classic, after all.

Do it. I've read Catcher in The Rye, and it is a great book, but The Grapes of Wrath blows everything else I've read out of the water. Steinbeck is a genius.

You're being a phony by not reading Grapes of Wrath and udging it off a few chapters and a movie.

Stop it.

You obviously lack reading comprehension. I never judged that book.
You are saying that Rye is the best. You have never read the other book. That's judging it.

Stop it. Just. Stop.

No one has ever read every book ever written. That doesn't mean you can't claim that a certain book is your favorite.

John Steinbeck won a damn Nobel prize in literature for The Grapes of Wrath. You could say that Catcher in The Rye was more influential since it was controversial enough to get banned from schools, but the exact same thing happened with Grapes of Wrath, so that point is null.

Maybe you're just not smart enough to understand it.

Idk man. The catcher in the rye is an 8th grade reading comprehension level. I'd have to be pretty retarded to not understand it.

Please do not send me group invites.

You really shouldn't be glorifying Holden. He was a whiny, angsty teenager who was trying to be edgy by being an outcast from society.

Stop banning me please.

You don't tell people what you think. That is how you hurt peoples feelings.

"Life is constantly fleeting from your grasp even from the very day it's bestowed upon you, but the shadow of death is always there, waiting for its chance to take you away."

"Even though many may not think so, ignorance and innocence are one and the same. The only difference is that one sounds nicer."

"I once knew a man who spent his entire life contemplating where we go after our death....it's a shame he realized it a second too late to tell anyone."

He was the goddam victim! The world was against him, and he did what he had to do to survive.
