Yes, but again, they are willingly apart of the Union.
The willingness of a territory, state, or country to be part of an empire has nothing to do with whether or not the empire is, in fact, an empire.
Germany is not an Empire yet 4-5 Germanic states decided to unite.

Also if American controlled Islands make the US an Empire then the British Empire has not fallen and still exists.
I've already said the UK is a still-existent, yet feeble empire. And Germany has no extensive series of territories outside of the landmass called Germany. If you go to Puerto Rico, you call it Puerto Rico, even though it's under the control of the US. If you go to different parts of Germany, you still call it Germany.

GG, try again tho.
What are you talking about? Puerto Rico is not under direct control of the US only influenced.

British oversea's territories directly contribute to the UK and still bow to the Queen. I don't see any random Islands under American Control doing anything for the USA except being launch platforms for its military.

Canada is apart of the british empire but has its own goverment. Territories are apart of said country. There are whole tracks of land that are Crown territory in Canada so this point is invalid.

Rights of territorys are in treatys. Still yet its apart of an empire. Same thing with Peurto Rico. USA just does not invade we negotiate.

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

Crazzy, you proved yourself wrong. The President isn't a "supreme ruler".

Anyone who says no has no idea what an empire is.
I don't see a Monarch or Emperor in the USA which you need to have an Empire.

Dude UK and Irish citisens can fly to both countries without a passport yet we don't own Ireland so thats not a good enough argument.

To bolster that argument some countries in Europe allow you to cross borders without passports.

Oh and Commonwealth citisens can fight in the British Military so try again.

There is no British Empire and Canada is a sovereign state. "Crown land" isn't owned by the British monarch. It's owned by the Canadian state which the British state has absolutely no control of.

So, you are arguing that an empire rests on its territories being non-complacent with annexation?

I'm arguing there is a difference between German people, who share a common culture and language voluntarily joining together to join a union, and Americans/Europeans forcing out natives to include that land in their country.

This isn't even a point of contention since you've already admitted that the United States came about its territory through imperialistic means.

Ouch.

Wasn't referring to you. I think you are mentally capable.

I was referring to the people contending whether or not Puerto Rico is part of the US and the people who say things like 'look at the Roman Empire up until Alexander the Great.'

I didn't. It doesn't say "supreme ruler". It says "supreme authority". That "supreme authority" which governs all the US Territories is the US government. An example of a situation where they would not be an empire is if they had a United-Nations-esque council which ran all the different territories, the US included.

Yes but many figured it was a corrupt result and the US hasn't said anything about it.

You can force the end o the expansion of empires but if there is a country which has an extensive series of territories own by but not incorporated therein, then it is an empire.

Then we need to go to the press's and tell them the British and French Empires still exist.
