The Spring semester for colleges should be (I assume it's the same throughout the US, but not sure about elsewhere) starting up in a few weeks, and besides our favorite item tuition, there are textbooks. What kind of damages are you expecting when it comes to buying/renting your textbooks?

(If your currency is not USD, you can either convert or pretend that there is no conversion rate)

It's usually about 250$ for me.

I really do hate it when classes say "the textbook is required!" and then never -blam!- use it.

The sad truth is that although I will have to buy books, I probably won't open most of them.

Most of my midterms and exams can be dominated buy just studying lecture slides and practice material the professors post online... I may open one of my books each quarter.

Damages?

It's me trying to be funny about how the cost is "damaging" to our finances (aka "the bank").

That was pretty much me last semester. Actually... I don't think I opened any of my books besides the one I had on Unix systems... Oh, and college textbook exclusives where they raise the price even higher just because they can.

Damages?

"What's the damage?" is a fairly common expression meaning "What's the cost?"

My talents include always knowing the wrong thing to say.

Twitter!

Last semester was a decent $200, but that was my first semester. This one's gonna be hella worse, Neuroscience is going to rob me.

Axis, where are you buying your books?

Also, when I was a student, I'd spend anywhere from $250-$600 on textbooks. Places didn't really start renting books til my senior year.

Bobcast is paid in MILF blind dates.

I think it was $250. Much better than last semester ($600).

Axis, where are you buying your books at?

I bought two of them from Amazon, two of them from the university (exclusive books who have fake ISBNs), and one from a friend (he is lending it to me). The total is a little over $400.

That's bullcrap. Buying books at the MSC is a total rip. I bought/rented mine from Traditions, sometimes Amazon. Did your profs write your university specific ones?

I hope I'm not getting you mixed up with someone else. You're an Ag, right? You said you were a 2%er if I recall correctly.

Neither of them were written by the professors I have. It's becoming more of a common thing that certain courses opt to use a book specifically catered to the university. Ironically, we were told that it was to keep the price of books down, but that was a flat up lie (my friends and I laughed at the people who said that before walking away).

I am an Aggie, but I don't recall saying I was a 2%er or anything like that.

Ah. A few of my profs forced us to buy books that they wrote. Fortunately they weren't that expensive.

I coulda swore someone from here said it and I didn't think it was westpointusma. Oh well, no worries. :D

I'm in high school, but I have a few college classes. I spent about $120 so far for two classes (AP Physics B and English III).
