mass effect 3

Though the morrow may be barren of promises, nothing shall forstall my return.

The only game that really wow'd me this year was X-Com EU. Other ones just didn't do as great as they could have. I don't mean to sound like a Debbie downer, but even though I enjoyed a lot of new releases I am also trying to be honest. For example, I really enjoyed Far Cry 3, but I can't say it lived up to expectations. I do not feel like the Skyrim with guns claim was accurate on any level, but rather it was a fun open world game. I think the only real thing that made it stand out was the touch of insanity and introduction of Vaas. He was a fantastic character that made the game what it was, but sadly without him it would have just been.. well it would have been another Far Cry game.

Since when did Far Cry 3 meet all expectations? A lot people, though they loved the game, hated the narrative.

Other then the well-developed antagonists, I thought the narrative was sloppy.

A lot of game critics who loved the game, also panned Far Cry 3's story.

Good surprise? Yea I would say Far Cry 3, the second one was broken. A good game was there but alot of bad design choices made it broken. Thankfully FC3 is a really great game is its better than FC2 in just about every aspect.

Bad surprise? Mass Effect 3's ending. Enough has already been said about this so I don't even have to explain anything.

These options are a bit restricting, but I'd say Guild Wars 2. I don't play MMO's,but GW2 sucked me in and I had a great time with the game. Spec Ops gets am honorable mention as well, because I was pleasantly surprised at how it turned out. I played the beta back in 2010 and completely wrote it off. The execution of the story however blew me away.

What's Up.

For sure Telltale's The Walking Dead game. I didn't think much of it but once I got into it the game I was amazed. Telltale definitely proved themselves and will hopefully do it again with season 2.

Day Z got a standalone?

Yes, it's in development. It's probably gonna be released in 2013 though, since Rocket and the dev team is really tired out.
