If you're new to the gaming industry where's a good place to start if you are wanting to make video games?

As in, careers? I want to get into it myself, but, you know, high schooler, so I can't really offer any help though.

I would say to just apply to every company there's an opening you would fit into, though.

You don't just "make" games. There's quite a few different jobs involved, each with their individual requirements.

Yep. That's true, but I want to do some other work to build up my skills so I can be good at almost anything.

Nahman Jayden, Eff bee eye. I herd that you're the origammy killah...

Well, considering new IPs are probably going to be popping up left and right once the next gen consoles arrive, i'd say now is a great time to apply to any companies you'd be interested in joining, OP.
Really, just go to any companies that interest you.
Got any ideas?

I can program, concept, and animate. I'd also like to be an engineer, however, I am just starting out in college. Oh yea i'm a musician also. I play the drums.

Please do not send me group invites.

There's tons of different aspects to the gaming industry.

- Programming
- Servers/networks
- Art
- Music
- Publishing
- Testing

More that I'm missing, I'm sure. Each one has their own career paths.

Learn computer programming, learn how to record and mix quality audio, learn how to create quality graphics. There are other aspects but those are the main 3 when it comes to the actual making of the game.

The indie game industry seems to be very friendly to new people.

Coming from someone in it at the moment, OP, have a go. Download Unity, make a pick up Unityscript or C# and make a simple game.
