Subject: A representative from Ubisoft approaches you...

Now sit down and pull your pants back up.

...he says "You are now in charge of choosing where one of the Assassin's Creed games takes place, when it takes place, what major event it surrounds, who you play as and who the mentor is. If the title is successful you get 50% of all sales. (That's a lot of money btw.)"

How do you answer his questions, or do you have a different response?

Nahman Jayden, Eff bee eye. I herd that you're the origammy killah...

It takes place in Greece.
In particular, the pelopennesian war. You are Arides, and you are a warrior/merc who fights for either the Athenians or the Spartans.Initially, your mentor is pericles, then some other person takes over (If you choose Athenian) Depending on how it goes, your ending changes history.
Sound good, gais?

World War II. No Desmond story, no build up where you learn your craft as an Assassin, just straight up getting a target to assassinate, coming up with a plan to kill him, and executing that plan, just like the first game. The game has the added layer of difficulty in that your opponents actually can kill you easily, forcing you to rely on stealth and subterfuge far more than any other Assassin's Creed title where you can mostly solo enemy forces.

  • 12.29.2012 9:53 PM PDT

I would tell them Assassin's Creed is too generic and they should reboot it as Assassin's Creed: Origins and it would be a gritty military first-person shooter set in the middle east.

Alternate History. You are an Ottoman assassin who's eventual goal is to kill Napoleon Bonaparte, and prevent the turning of France against the Empire.

Dumb people are just blissfully unaware of how very dumb they are.

The Game takes place in the First civilization. You play as Desmond who's mind has been uploaded to a first civ. computer system. Realizing that he is stuck there he uses the vast archives left in the computer to relive his ancestor's life animus style. There he must search for a way to defeat Juno and escape the computer mainframe.

It's be a FPS, set in the modern era. You'll be a special forces soldier in a top secret multinational counter-terrorist organization. Your character will be the team leader for one of the two teams in the outfit. The plot is to apprehend or arrest the leaders of a US homegrown terror cell that is attacking New York City and taking CEOs hostage and waging war on the streets.

And I would rename it Rainbow Six Patriots because Assassin's Creed sucks.

Here's some concept gameplay footage I made to show him

1) That game is called "Sniper Elite V2" and is already out

2) The Desmond storyline is required since the who Animus thing, and also the small (read:HUGE) problem that the whole AC series is about Desmond finding a way to defeat Abstergo and the Templars. Not play Splinter Cell:1400s.

Bullcrap.

Desmond was the worst thing that could have happened to the Assassin's Creed series. It was an interesting way to frame the events of the first game, but when they tried to turn it into a storyline in and of itself, that's where things spiralled into the madness and mess that the series is currently in.

The stories of the Assassins of the past are already interesting and compelling enough, trying to constantly make them relevant to Desmond in the future and come up with stupid excuses for why you need to play through the life of his ancestors only sours what would be otherwise good stories of freedom versus order.

"I forgot where I put my car keys. BETTER JUMP IN THE ANIMUS AND FIND OUT!"

Which is why cutting out all that nonsense and focusing on the stories of the Assassins would be infinitely better. You can still have the pieces of Eden and the mystery and the Intrigue, and from the glyph puzzles we know there was Assassin involvement during World War II, it seems like the perfect game to reboot Assassins Creed into a decent history based action series with elements of science fiction woven in.

Screw Desmond. Screw Desmond to hell.

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

OP is representative of Ubisoft.
