"History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it."
-Sir Winston Churchill

The Secret Society 95% of activity is me, I could use some help.

Final Fantasy VI.

Greatest video game story ever written. period. End of story.

Knights of the Old republic 1/2
Abes oddysee/Exoduss
Mass effect 1/2 and some of 3
Gears of war (I'm a sucker of cheesiness)
Black ops 1/2
Dragon age: Origins.
Many many many many many more games I can't think of right now.

In short I LOVE stories in gaming. What better story telling medium is there then one that actually lets you experience the story on an interactive scale?

Sorry, but as I see it, any quality book or film knocks the best gaming has to offer out the water. There's simply no way gaming can compete when the plot has to be fitted around gameplay.

When I think of story (in video games), I do not think of the entire picture. I think of the great moments and the dialogue.

Halo 4 fails on a tremendous level IMO.

Didact was the only charismatic character. If I had the opportunity, I'd join him!

Metal Gear series
Halo series (especially CE and 4, IMO)
Mass Effect 1
Half Life series

Can't think of any others for now, though there are a hell of a lot more.

Original Bioshock.

Would you kindly?

Heavy Rain and Walking Dead come to mind when talking about incredibly well-told stories.

Mass Effect also does, but they screwed it up quite a few times. And not only the ending of ME3.

"Insert generic signature here"

Since people are recommending -blam!- tier shooter games, I might as well recomend something with a little more thought, get Syphon Filter 1-Logan's Shadow.

Easily beat every single shooter mentioned here.

Anything with a crazy plot twist is generally accepted as the best game stories. No idea why, but I love them and so do a lot of other people. Kotor and Bioshock come to mind.
