I guess it is too hard to understand by most people.
Pretentious as -blam!-

I admit, it was certainly a unique show, but I think you're looking far too deeply into it

I don't see how I'm looking into it too deeply. Each arc represented something, it wasn't there just to be there.

What did the Tsubasa Cat arc represent?
That's the hardest one to pin down, but it most likely refers to how to handle a situation, sort of like the snake arc. Each arc represents something that people struggle with in real life and it uses the supernatural to personify the problem. It's honestly not that complicated to see the underlying motives for each arc.

And what, may I ask, led you to that conclusion?
And if it's not that complicated, wouldn't that mean that the show is rather shallow?

And what, may I ask, led you to that conclusion?

1. Person is stressed from not addressing problem directly
2. Stress builds up
3. People release stress in different ways, most of the time it isn't the best way (thus the personification of "stress release" is created, which is the cat)
I don't see how that is complicated or isn't there. Are you going to say that the cat was just a cute plot toy that had no relevance at all other than to move the plot along and introduce another supernatural being?

I didn't find it to be that complicated, apparently you did.

Are we resorting to ad hominem now?
When did I say that the cat was a just a cute plot toy?
You're the one who's making the show to be far deeper than it actually is

I can fall back to attacking you directly whenever I want, it doesn't make my points any less credible or any less correct. Tell me, when does spouting "fallacies" when it truly wasn't a fallacy make you look intelligent? I literally answered your question and then added a little jab, that's not an ad hominem. An ad hominem would be if you made a point and I attacked you personally which made your point false, I never did this as I directly answered your question. It would have been an ad hominem if I said ," Lol, you're an idiot, you're not worth my time so your point is invalid" Now, please support your view that it is a lot more simple than what I said.

You said that Bakemonogatari was filled with things Posted by: colbyrules8
that could impact how you go about your life if you look into it.
I'm saying that it's not that deep and complex
To counter that, you claimed that the Tsubasa Cat arc represented how to properly handle a situation
If that was the case, how would that be "life-changing"?
So it's a show with a underlying moral message
Plenty of shows like that exist
Even children's books contain morals
What then makes Bakemonogatari different from the rest, aside from the visual presentation?
The impression that I got from you was that it was DA GREATEST ANIME EVAR SO DEEP

The impression that I got from you was that it was DA GREATEST ANIME EVAR SO DEEP
It is, it's a show where you find more and more out the more you watch it.
Regarding the arc, I didn't say every arc was life-changing. I was referring to how some aspects of the anime CAN change your views on life if you look into it. For example, the snake arc clearly represents how to handle an issue, the curse didn't even take effect until she got worked up about it and made the mistake of activating (which represents how people overreact and make the situation worse most of the time). The snakes were the issues at hand and she wouldn't even have had an issue until she handled it incorrectly (which, that isn't hard to catch onto). I feel like I'm just ranting right now due to it being 4 AM , oh well.
What makes Bakemonogatari different? It's the approach it takes, the characters, the animation style, etc. I love how issues are represented as apparitions, that is an amazing approach, to personify issues.

  • 12.31.2012 12:57 AM PDT

Just to clarify, I don't find the show bad. In fact, I'm reading Kizumonogatari right now.
It's late at night, we're both tired, and I'm trying to finish reading. Let's end the argument.
If you want, consider this me running away and your win.

Oh, and the animation style is typical SHAFT.
>Implying that SHAFT actually animates

Seems cool. I watched the movie in ENG subtitles but this is dubbed to english so its a bit weird.

I hate MLP. It is cancerous and pretty stupid to see men watching a show for girls. They can deny the truth but the truth shall prevail!

I'm sorry that I made you guys mad but I hate people that are muslim do to the fact that the quaran specifically says kill or convert the infidel. You can look it up if you want. I have a mild learning disability. And I am being serious that I have a mild learning disability. I'm in LLD classes for acedemics.

Although not technically a TV show, does this thread include Visual Novels?

I highly recommend Katawa Shoujo.

To anyone who plays/reads it: Be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster the likes of which you'll never experience again.
