yeah. Some of the anime guys are kinda rough
Would you want me to show you how rough I can be?

If not, there are plenty of others who I think would enjoy the task.

Now now guys lets be calm. This thread still serves a great thing for the flood. It calms the spam of anime threads.

So what do you think of SnS?

  • 01.04.2013 10:06 PM PDT

Proud Spartan II, COG soldier, Hero of time, and crowbar wielding scientist.

I'd just like to say I saw the first 2 Berserk movies just now, and they were amazing. I saw them subbed, because I can't -blam!- find the dub version of the first, and I found the second full movie in some remote corner of YouTube.

The first movie started great, but the -blam!-y pace ruined the rest of the movie. It was also awkwardly short, as well as dull at some points because the music failed. The anime did everything this movie did better, but the sound effects, animation, and general production values of the film are nothing to sneeze at, impressing me a great deal. Still, the pacing botched it.
7/10

The second movie fixed absolutely everything the first one did. The pacing was superb, the action was aplenty, and it ran for a very satisfying length. The music works at every part, and the cgi doesn't distract, and does a really good job of what it does. I could hardly tell if it was being used at times. The movie also held plenty of Easter eggs for those who'd read the manga. It was great.
11/10

As Berserk being my absolute favorite anime/manga of the handful I've seen, I was let down by the first movie, only to be blown away by the second. By all means watch the first, if only to see the second. I would not recommend these movies if you haven't read the manga, as you'll miss a bit of the intended references, but that's more of a recommendation to read the manga than a discouragement to watch the movies. I'll definitely pick these up for myself when all 3 are dubbed, and you should too.

Also, I say watched the dubbed version because the voice actors from the anime are returning, and those guys were phenomenal, and generally admired by even some if the most picky anime connoisseurs.

Biggest problem is pacing and battle choreo. Otherwise, like the plot and love the music and setting of the story. And the names for them are so catchy.

Thank you for the review Knightmare. It sucks the first movie didn't live up to your expectations. Hopefully you really enjoyed the second one.

Was going to watch Tenjou Tenge, but it turns out that I instead had Onii-chan Dakedo Ai Sae Areba Kankeinai yo ne! opened instead.

You can only guess how I felt upon expecting to watch a martial arts based anime, only to find that the opening scene is about a girl reading a novel about forbidden love.

Tried to watch it when it first aired. It was unbelievably bad.

Which one? I haven't started one, and the other I've only gotten three minutes in so far.

Barely into season 2 but I'll catch up. It is indeed really addicting, and like I said I find myself sapping up this love polygon. I thought I was only interested in action but apparently the juxtaposition of the 2 is more than enough to keep me hooked.

I wouldn't say that. You would be surprised on how fast people can watch anime.
