*sigh*

This franchise seems to be a favorite target for ignorant parents and old people.

http://www.examiner.com/article/mass-effect-4-silent-series-l inked-with-sandy-hook-elementary-school-shooting

"Video games are often lazily called upon as the root of such evil and that's precisely the case once again.

"24-year-old Ryan Lanza was misidentified as the killer early on, and because he listed 'Mass Effect' on his Facebook profile, many began to post angry messages on the game's official Facebook page," the report stated.

Some of the examples of what people have been saying can be found here.

"Every single post from the past several days, regardless of the subject at hand (from fan art to upcoming multiplayer events), is filled to the brim with angry, irrational comments from those who believe that 'Mass Effect' had something to do with the shooting," the report stated.

And you've just known this?

Anyway, the media and the uninformed public always lay the blame firmly on video games for whatever reason.

There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

Mass Effect is a favourite target?

I have literally never seen it targeted before this. I'd say that CoD and GTA are targeted way, way more than Mass Effect.

Also, it's a video game. It's the easiest thing to blame that causes the most controversy.

Guys, he also had a Facebook.

Am I the only one seeing an obvious correlation here?

It's tragic about the events, it really is. Still the stupidity of people when it comes to this is sad.

Your average nice guy on The Flood.... D: ..... WAIT A MINUTE....

We all knew it was going to happen. Taking tragedies and using them to suppress culture is something that idiots have always done when they are too afraid of actual reform.

The worst part is that it wasn't even the killer. Ryan Lanza liked Mass Effect on his Facebook page, not Adam Lanza.

Stupid holier-than-thou pseudo-Christian pricks trying to find some stupid reason to get rid of my life-long pastime.

Back when the first Mass Effect came out, Fox News said it was "teaching kids about sex" and called the Xbox 360 the "Sex-box." The Mass Effect series is a popular target for the media, as with GTA and CoD.

If it is the gunman and not the gun, then why is it the game and not the gamer to blame?

While this is old; it simply pisses me off how people believe the root of all violence is somehow a singular form of random modern media. I suppose they are right, violence is a fairly new thing and-oh wait.

I especially love the comment, "A man who loves this game just gunned down 25 people based on this game."

What does that even mean?

Plus they are completely oblivious to the fact that Mass Effect doesn't usually pit you against human enemies.

Plus there was that time when I killed a Reaper and instantly got the urge to kill 20 children.

Oh wait, no I didn't.
