Ok. Consider this.
Bungie has a -blam!- load of stuff to put in Halo 3. They could have a LOT of trouble trying to fit stuff onto one disc, which could lead to some things being cut out of the game.
An answer to this would be to split it up, to put Campaign, Settings, and Profiles onto the first disc. Then put Multiplayer, XBOX Live, and Extras on the second disc. The idea has it's merits.
Pros:
Splitting the game into two discs would help ensure that Bungie doesn't have to cut things out of the game(like in Halo 2).
It would leave room for even more detail to be put into things such as cutscenes, multiplayer frame rates, overall graphics, and extra features.
Cons:
It would be damned inconvinient to have to get up and switch discs whenever you want to play campaign or mutiplayer.
Bungie would have to put more effort into getting the baseline programming for the second disc, so that it could stand alone from the first disc(the H2 Multiplayer Map Pack did NOT stand alone from H2 game disc, insofar as gameplay goes).
If one of the discs got broken or damaged somehow, we would have to buy a complete new set to replace it, instead of the single disc that we need.
So you decide, which would you prefer?
Note: In know Bungie isn't gonna listen to this thread. If you don't like the idea, flaming me will be a waste of time. I think it's a legitimate question, and I don't give a -blam!- what you think if you're just here for a fight. If you disagree with something, explain why.
