Seeing as this post wont be very one sided, and will have at least some minor intelligence and insight to it, I doubt it will get noticed. There is probably an argument going on right now in the post section which will swallow mine.
On the off chance someone does read this, I will state my opinion.
I personally am not a fan of the show. It doesnt really fit my needs for a show I find enjoyable so I never watch it. I also think that it is VERY WRONG to tell people what the should and shouldnt like, so long as its not causing any harm to anybody.
I do however, feel that there are many, so called fans of the show, who blurt off about it non stop and I personally find that very irritating. There are a select few who will wear the clothes, buy the toys and spout every single reference there is to the show. I have a hobby. Bionicles. I am 17, which is slightly odd to still be buying the sets. Let me just say that no one but my family knows about this hobby. If I had firends in real life that liked Bionicle, then I would talk to them non-stop, but the truth is they counldnt give two damns about Mata Nui and co, and I dont expect them too.
Theres a phrase that really annoys me "____ and proud"
It irritated me beyond belief. For the context we are talking about, its brony. I dont get why you should be proud to be into something. I am not proud Im into Bionicles, nor would I be if I wasnt. I am proud to be able to admit what I like without society chaning my opinion, but thats not why Im into them.
There are a select few of "the ones who shout the loudest" in this brony community and they are the ones that wind people up the wrong way.
If you're really interested in knowing why anybody could be proud of watching a show for little girls I can tell you.
Threads like these, and the people who start them or hate within them.
Some people hate us for very VERY justified reasons, because some of us are pretty freaky. But a lot hate us simply because they hear we are bad, and they hear that we watch this show and then think we're some kind of second class person in society.
Because we have so many people who hate us, people feel the need to advertise that they are a brony, they are proud of it, and they don't care and wont accept insults to a show they love.
Imagine if you were in school or something, and you heard a peer talking about how much they hate Bionicle, and how much they hate anybody who uses it. Basically being a stereotyping A-hole, and spreading that ideology to others.
Is it hard to imagine you stepping out and saying, "Come on man, I like Bionicle." or "I like Bionicle, and you can say whatever you want about me."?
