Seeing as this post wont be very one sided, and will have at least some minor intelligence and insight to it, I doubt it will get noticed. There is probably an argument going on right now in the post section which will swallow mine.

On the off chance someone does read this, I will state my opinion.

I personally am not a fan of the show. It doesnt really fit my needs for a show I find enjoyable so I never watch it. I also think that it is VERY WRONG to tell people what the should and shouldnt like, so long as its not causing any harm to anybody.

I do however, feel that there are many, so called fans of the show, who blurt off about it non stop and I personally find that very irritating. There are a select few who will wear the clothes, buy the toys and spout every single reference there is to the show. I have a hobby. Bionicles. I am 17, which is slightly odd to still be buying the sets. Let me just say that no one but my family knows about this hobby. If I had firends in real life that liked Bionicle, then I would talk to them non-stop, but the truth is they counldnt give two damns about Mata Nui and co, and I dont expect them too.

Theres a phrase that really annoys me "____ and proud"
It irritated me beyond belief. For the context we are talking about, its brony. I dont get why you should be proud to be into something. I am not proud Im into Bionicles, nor would I be if I wasnt. I am proud to be able to admit what I like without society chaning my opinion, but thats not why Im into them.

There are a select few of "the ones who shout the loudest" in this brony community and they are the ones that wind people up the wrong way.

If you're really interested in knowing why anybody could be proud of watching a show for little girls I can tell you.

Threads like these, and the people who start them or hate within them.

Some people hate us for very VERY justified reasons, because some of us are pretty freaky. But a lot hate us simply because they hear we are bad, and they hear that we watch this show and then think we're some kind of second class person in society.

Because we have so many people who hate us, people feel the need to advertise that they are a brony, they are proud of it, and they don't care and wont accept insults to a show they love.

Imagine if you were in school or something, and you heard a peer talking about how much they hate Bionicle, and how much they hate anybody who uses it. Basically being a stereotyping A-hole, and spreading that ideology to others.

Is it hard to imagine you stepping out and saying, "Come on man, I like Bionicle." or "I like Bionicle, and you can say whatever you want about me."?

IDGAF and that should be everyone's mindset.

Unfortunately, it's not.

Precisely. Constantly, I see people complaining about how loud and obnoxious Bronies are about their community, and yet its blatantly obvious that they aren't the ones making the most noise about the subject. The people that spam this forum with MLP topics aren't Bronies, they're Brony haters.

Moreover, the notion that so many people care significantly about something this petty and trivial is extremely annoying. Television show preference is by far one of the most bizarre and inaccurate ways I've observed people on this forum judge others.

On this forum. This is the only place where I've seen so-called anti-bronies be more annoying than bronies. Everywhere else, from other forums and websites to games like Planetside 2, bronies are really frigging annoying. For example micspamming MLP songs. Seriously?

That still doesn't negate that the behavior of a small, vocal minority, which a large number of organizations have, is not an accurate way of understanding the nature of an entire community.

Alright for clarification I believe Kimy meant the literal meaning of "Annoying bronies are greater than Annoying anti-bronies" not Thunder's interpretation of her words which I see as "Annoying bronies are greater in number than Annoying anti-bronies."

Kimy's intentions showed preference, whereas Thunder's showed disdain or disapproval.

Is that correct?

Good post, although what intrigued me is why you don't think you should be proud to be into something? Are you talking about the context of hobbies or pride in general?

Bronies bother me, even the ones who are passive about it. If they bring it up but can't elaborate on why they like it, which many can't and feign the excuse "I just like watching the show" then I fear them as much as the ones who are loud about it.

I find that actual grown men who watch this are in fact socially incompetent and would probably have some sort of mental illness (eg. autism) that couples with the fact they are watching a show that was once directed at little girls. And this leads me to something else that bothers me. The show's purity is only in the first season. I watched it and found it mildly entertaining because it seemed as a good show that is directed at younger girls. But now, the shows major demographic isn't little girls but these bronies. The comedic subtext in the show was for the former demographic in the first season, but because of its popularity, the producers did what was necessary for profit and then made the subtext point in between them and little girls. Doesn't seem selfish that a cult following that we know as bronies managed to steal a children's tv show for their own humor? Why can't parts of their group like grown men or literal beta guy do something more productive with their life? It boggles me that they would make such a large fanbase and hijack a show that was for little girls.

Is it the community, the show itself? Or just a general dislike for television shows that are targeted to small children.

Out of curiosity, is it the fact that the song is MLP that makes it annoying or is it the fact that it is mic spam that denotes your annoyance with it?
Could it be that if it were a song by Evans Blue that it would have been less annoying, or would you still consider it "Mic Spam" and express your dislike just as much? Hell, if you found them both absolutely annoying but the MLP song more so, then you need to acknowledge that you've provided a biased statement by not acknowledging your discontent with other situations of similar matter unrelated to MLP.

I mean really? Is it the fact that it is MLP that make sit annoying, or is it the fact that it is profoundly spamming the Mic? Profoundly spamming the mic is a situation which I presume many of us run into every week so it can't be that. So it must be your annoyance with the specific songs being spammed. Well if they had a pleasing singing voice would you find it just as annoying? Could it be the consistency in with you run into these preferred situations? I've only ever ran into 3 noticeable bronies ever on Xbox Live, Steam, or other online games and I have a very noticeable username to those that are. So I'm not encountering them that often, if ever.

Most of my friends everywhere (XBL, Computer Gaming, etc.) are bronies and only once have I ever heard MLP lyrical singing... in a private party with only bronies there. To be frank, its not that there are seemingly countless numbers of us doing things like that is it? It seems to me to be that what you take notice to is the very few who do, just as I take notice to the very few who make threads like this and to me they shout much louder: I'm displeased with my encounters so I make a rash generalization based on the very few I've had and apply my discontent everywhere I see fit.

Also, stating you are a Brony as validity for your argument is on par with stating "Yes, Americans are arrogant. Trust me, I'm American." That's just attempting to put more worth into your words by self-inflating your own opinion and only in a very tiny way actually contributes to the sake of argument. When talking to you I pay no attention to the fact that you are a brony.
If only everyone else did so.

Also, I hope I did not offend. Please alert me to it if I have.

What are your opinions on Bronies?

Just to hear them. Why does the entire concept bother you?

Is it the community, the show itself? Or just a general dislike for television shows that are targeted to small children.
At first, I hated them mainly because I thought it was stupid to watch a little girls show. While I do think it is still stupid, it is no longer my predominant reason for my hate. It lies with the community. Annoyingly posting pictures of ponies everywhere (random searches for images somehow lead me to MLP), bringing it up where it does not belong, and getting extremely defensive by any amount of criticism. Hell, it is even worse when they ponify everything, even themselves like the Sonic fanbase with its unoriginality.

People say it is a vocal minority, but I think that is really just BS. Two people I know in real life that are indeed Bronies are very annoying and fit the generalizations of Bronies. One of them even shoved a stupid drawing he made of a pony right into my face, and I'm being literal with the shoving. Also, I've been on TF2 and there are so many Bronies with pony sprays and even rule 34 pony sprays everywhere. Heck, a couple of them were screaming in the mic like a bunch of little kids.

All of this has irritated me to no end as it seems like anywhere I go, MLP is there. Bronies don't know when they cross the line, which is constantly being crossed. Also, the hypocrisy behind this "love and tolerance" is pretty bs since they don't tolerate the opinions of others.

And that is why I hate Bronies.
