T4R I finished it yesterday and I have no idea what happened. For those of you who don't know which one the good ending is, it's the one where you light the bonfire.

And on a sidenote, the ending was extremly dissapointing. The music was so perfect, really melancholic, but it was out of place due to the lack of a cutscene and a -blam!- dead dude swinging his flaming sword at you the moment you break through the fog gate.

I think the entire ending is awesome because there isn't any type of hype other than what you feel for the game. You don't see the ending as good because you haven't tried to find the story in the game.

Seriously, you just killed lord gwyn and you are whining about it?

The lack of actual exposition (for gwyn) is what urks me. I mean, for christ sake, Sif got a cutscene! And aside from that, I still have no idea what I accomplished by killing him and lighting myself on fire.

I don't think a cutscene would have done anything whatsoever.

He left to link the first flame and knew that sooner or later somebody would come to apprehend him. Thus he and is knights waited, for a few days, years, or eons? who really knows, but he stood waiting for the undead soul to face him.

By lighting the fire you kept the age of fire in which man will never rise. so you pretty much helped lord Gwyn who can bee seen as a bad guy since he is upsetting the natural balance because he doesn't want to give up his power and era.

I might be too harsh since if this is your first playthrough you wouldn't have been able to truly find out everything story wise. I apologize.

Troll confirmed. I never even insulted you

OP - You're a dumbass with the reading comprehension skills of a second grader.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

Good Ending: You kill Gwyn and let the Age of Fire continue.

Bad Ending: You kill Gwyn and usher in the Age of Dark, basically, you can't see a foot in front of you. Good luck in the Crystal Cave!

On the Left

Godshatter: I can go all the way with someone without being attracted to them.
CamCamm: How does that work?
Godshatter: I'm easily aroused by anything that moves. It's a curse.
Brain says 'No, that's ugly', body says 'ugly is fine with me'.

Yup, you've got to really look into what everyone says and what every item/location might say. Pretty much from the spoilers that I've read, haven't beat it :P is "Darkness" is the age of Man. And Fire is the age of the "Gods" i think. Or Gwyn.

Yes you are Lord.

protip, both endings are bad endings. in one, essentially nothing changes as you just replace lord gwyn, a bunch of people are now dead, and that's it. The other, eternal darkness. Yeah. i guess it's just the lesser evil to link the fire. maybe. i don't know. or maybe helping man ahead is really the better option... your choice really.

That is an idiot tip since it isn't accurate.

how so? it's pretty much accurate.

linking the fire preserves the age of the gods, the fire is rekindled, and fire is secured for eons to come, or however long your soul lasts. it's assumed you'd replace gwyn watching over the kiln of the first flame. So really, nothing changes, it's just your soul being eaten away to preserve the flame instead of gwyns fading soul.

the dark lord ending has no one keeping the flame alive, so it goes out and ushers in an age of darkness, or an "age of man" In which everything will slowly die off as you rule over the survivers, or man, probably.

Those are the endings as i see them at least, and both seem fairly bad.

if there's something i'm missing, please fill me in.

The ending was amazing.

The music for your boss fight was some of the most beautiful music i've ever heard!(:

  • 12.30.2012 2:58 PM PDT

Proud Spartan II, COG soldier, Hero of time, and crowbar wielding scientist.

You need to see this and all the others on his channel.

^ And Gwyn's fight was totally unexpected. I expected a humongous badass lightning shooting god, but I found an old man in a cave. After seeing the lore videos, I regret killing pretty much every boss.

One ending is a big pitch black evil, the other is a small, feeble golden.

So basically:
Link the fires like Gwyn did and wanted to do by killing Gwyn and all his followers. Gwyn and the others were the good guys, and you killed them all because you were told to.
