Max Anarchy demo alone was light years beyond anything I played this year. -blam!- Sega for delaying it to January. The demo with like six characters and one stage was a blast, the full game will be amazing online.
Serious answer: Probably Kid Icarus: Uprising. The weapon crafting system really shines in multiplayer where everyone has all of their unique weapons and playstyles along with custom abilities. I like to run around doing dashing melee attacks with my samurai sword for quick kills or using my laser staff to snipe people through walls across the map. Good fun.
Tekken Tag 2 is definitely my runner-up. Nothing really new as far as multiplayer goes (it's a fighting game), but the netcode is amazing and it has everything a fighter online should have and more. I can hop in a lobby with my friends and fight or train with them and it works great.
