Halo 3 was a balanced game, Halo 4 is not.[/quote]

Halo 3 was as balanced as the tower of Pisa.

BR > ALL
Lol, that's just because the rest of the sandbox was almost entirely useless.

Doesn't make the entire game unbalanced just because one weapon was the most versatile, especially when you had the option to get BR starts.

I'm fairly certain that is the definition of unbalanced...
It's only unbalanced if you can't use the weapon, which wasn't the case.

There were plenty of gametypes where it was AR starts and the Br had to be picked up.
But you didn't have to unlock it.

It'd be your fault for vetoing BR starts.

Waffles > Pancakes. End of story.
I <3 Bungie :)

I'm not really able to give a legitimate explanation other than I play games to have fun, and Halo 3 was the right game at the right time for me, it was fun regardless, whether I was playing alone or not, getting my ass kicked or dominating, it didn't really matter what happened, it was simply more fun.

With Halo 4 it seems to me that they added things just for the sake of adding them.

That's not a very good counter-argument.

Very good point here. Halo 3 came out at the right time. It really didn't have any competition. Great game and the right time.

The Flood's resident metalhead.

Because we had a few years of Reach, so it would make sense for a proper sequel to be more like Halo 3... some people just prefer the classic HALO gameplay you know?

  • 12.30.2012 11:31 AM PDT

Personally I wish they would have a classic playlist, something they said they were adding in but I see where thats turned up.

I just think halo 3 had more memorable maps, and Equipment&Power Ups>AAs. Forge maps to me personally were cooler in Halo 3 because they were so hard to create and people put some tlc in it, now its all magnets and legos, which while not a bad I just don't see it as more impressive. Also the armor, in both reach and 4, most of the armor pieces are eneric as hell and can easily be swaped, halo 3 it piece had its own look and feel.

Also after ODST halos gotten t0o serious with it story, yes there was a lot of things going around them that are dire and serious but the series managed to keep a good amount of humor in it.

I'd say the real halo died with Reach, as much as I disliked it, it still kept some of it halo-ey feel to it, halo 4 feels generic. And I admit when I first played it was fun but maybe thats because it was the new title.

Dating Age

For those looking to vent, get proper advice, or give it to those in need.

Because some people love Halo 3 (which is fine since it's a great game) therefore making Halo just like Halo 3 will make them love the new Halo just as much as Halo 3.

The reality is you could make Halo 5 or Halo 6 play 100% like Halo 3 and you'd see people disappointed. You can't capture the personal magic you had with Halo 3 with some other game so don't try. Stop trying and maybe you'll find some new magic with these games.

A better question since we are on the topic of pointing out false dilemmas, is why do you want Halo to fail so badly?

Oh man. Again, great point. Halo 3 had that undefinable "it" that is rare for any game to capture. It was that "it" that caused me to burn so many hours on Halo3.

What do you want me to argue? Halo 3's weapon sandbox was awful, I agree.

But having a dominant weapon in a game doesn't make it unbalanced, when everyone has access to it from the beginning.

It's up to you to be able to get skilled with it and use it to your advantage.

A simple life.

Noobs in this thread need to learn 2 play Halo 4.

  • 12.30.2012 11:42 AM PDT

A competitive players main goal is to win.
A casuals main goal is to have fun regardless of whether that results in a win or loss.
It has nothing to do with individual skill or knowledge, it has to do with the reason you play.

Because it was fun and balanced.

Some things in this World you just can't explain; but that doesn't mean they are any less true, just that you have to chose to believe in them.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
One, two, Pinkie's... Coming for you...
Three, four... You will breath no more...
Five, six... Gotta add it to the mix...
Seven, eight... Gonna bake cupcakes...
Nine, ten... You're my very best friend...

Because I enjoyed Halo CE, 2, and 3.

I enjoyed Reach because it was a breath of fresh air, but not nearly as much as the previous Halo's.

Every Halo has innovated over the last. Halo 2 brought in Duel wielding, Halo 3 brought in equipment, Reach brought in AA's, but Halo 4...

I wanted Halo 4, not Reach 2.

Then what was the point of including other weapons if you would be at an honest disadvantage if you didn't use the BR? Halo 3's sandbox was

-Carbine/Carbine

-Snipers

-Shotguns/sword

-Rockets

-Grenades

-Meelee

Does that look fun to you?

I promise you that you wouldn't get far in love wolves if you didn't master jumping around with the BR.

Artists You Outta Know:
M.i - Macklemore - e-dubble - OnCue

If you hate on rap it is simply because you are not cultured enough to understand it.

That's a pretty stupid question considering...

People want a balanced, competitive, fun game. Halo 2/3 were undoubtedly the pinnacle of the Halo series. When you look at what Halo has become since then with Reach and now 4 you have two products that are considerably worse than the previous.

People who comment that we are just stuck in a feeling of nostalgia are idiots. You don't see tons of people saying they'd rather have the iPhone 3 over the 5, that's because the iPhone has considerably improved. Halo has not. Reach was the worst Halo, the population #s will tell you that, popular opinion will tell you that. Halo 4 is slightly improved from Reach but it is below the standard Halo fans have come to expect after Halo CE, 2, & 3.

Saying Halo fans are just scared of change is flat out stupid. Change is not bad, but the changes Bungie and now 343i have made to the franchise with Reach and 4 have been bad changes that have negatively altered the competitive, balance, and fun aspects of Halo.

To be honest, I would love a 'Halo 3.5". A re-skinned Halo 3 with fire fight and some more game modes would be amazing.

So guys, why do you want Halo 3.5 so badly?
Gee OP, I don't know. Why do you want Reach 2.0?
I never said I did. Ever. All I want is logical evolution.

The evolution of Halo is CoD?

Lolwut?
Inb4 the old Halo formula would have stagnated the series without any evidence to back that claim up and somehow compromising Halo's integrity is better than that.

For all questions with answers unknown to you, the proper procedure is to assume the answer is peanut butter.

While that may be true, I'm just going to pretend otherwise.

Because Halo 3 was the frame for the portrait that is the best years of gaming and my most fond memories of gaming.
