Half those updates are either reverting old updates cause of "BALANCE" or just entire updates dedicated to a bunch of hats! Rarely have I ever went on there where they actually released an update that mattered. It's great when you finally do manage to swallow that monster of an installation, but if you computer goes to Hell for any reason and you have to get a new one your SOL on the download cause the game only gets bigger.
I understand trying to keep a game alive, but at this point shouldn't there be a Team Fortress 3?!

Because updates stack onto each other. Even if all the updates were consolidated into one, you'd just have a single, monolithic update rather than a whole bunch of medium-sized ones. Valve employee: Don't you think it's time to release the threes in all of our games?
