AH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

HAHAHAHAHA!

Sorry, that's just the funniest thing I've heard in a while. Thanks for makin my day!

Anyways. Your new rig is pretty nice. Bout the same as mine although I have an ATI card.

As for your modem, 56k sucks. It's ancient. You'll be able to play online. But it will probably lag something fierce. Don't even bother trying to host a game. You'll be able to support maybe 2 players... Find a good broadband carrier if you want to host.

HAHAHA! 56k... Dial up is like being stuck in traffic behind a 90 year old lady driving an 88 Crown Vic... We're talking like -5 Mph...

Right, when the host of the server you're playing in is probably hosting it from your next door neighbor's house.

It doesn't matter what kind of crappy ISP you have, you're going to have low ping if the host is less than a block away.

Uhm, The TUI server is in Seattle, Im in Ontario, I get good ping and no lag. MY ISP is Hispeed, so my crappy modem doesnt really matter. HEre's how my netowrk connects.

Internet->Phone Line->Hispeed Modem->My Sisters Computer->10mbps router->56k modem in my comp.

Excuse me, but everyone I know who has a HP (Hewlett Packard) swears they will never get another. Ever. I would keep looking.

Let me see if I understand how you're connected: Your internet service is DSL which is piggy-backed on your regular phone line, (phone works even when you're online), Which is connected to a DSL modem which is connected to your sister's computer, (via her ethernet port?). Then your sister's computer is connected to a router. Does she have 2 ethernet ports on her computer? Most have one. You are connected to the router via your 56K modem port? Are you sure you're not connected to the router via your ethernet port? Are you sure the DSL modem isn't connected to the router and both computers to the router? That would be the usual way.

When you switch your computer on and it boots up, are you connected to the internet, or do you have to ask the 56K modem to dial a number to connect?

If I'm not mistaken, a 56K modem port is a serial port. If there's a serial port on the router you may not be using it as a modem and therefore getting higher connection speeds than if you were connecting via "dial-up".

CRAP! YOU GUYS!

ok sorry, but ill just put it there and now, i dont like to host games. i jsut dont. i look toward to find a game on the list, and a LOT of you guys underestimate 56K, or i may just have DSL/Cable. I DONT KNOW. but i dont lag anywhere when i play, only when i play halo trial, which is hell. and yes, i barely have an experience in computers, because i enjoy going outside and hanging with friends, not spending my whole day on the computer. i dont mean to be offensive, but there. i made my point.

BACK TO THE POINT>

i actually want to know if this computer is good enough to run HALO and CS smoothly, without glitching and lag problems. lets not talk smack about computers on my thread.
