While having this in play may reduce the number of deaths in a shooting but it will not stop them.

Thank you, Captain Obvious.

source?

I'm not wasting my time providing a source for something that's been covered constantly by news outlets over many years and something that should be common knowledge.
So basically, you have no source? And thus no argument?

I'm not even going to waste my time with you. You've proven to be horribly moronic. This post alone is enough.
Resorting to ad hominem? You're only digging yourself a deeper hole, Rose.

Key

Are you -blam!- kidding me... What if a kid doesn't feel comfortable around guns? What if there's a 3rd grade kid who doesn't want to have a teacher who carries a gun on them? Do you put that kid into a special class? Isolate that kid because they don't like guns? I'd hope not. So what do you do? Especially at the high school level when kids get more politically active and/or outspoken. You have a kid who doesn't want their teacher to be in the same room as them with a gun. What do you do?

I think that a teacher should be able to bring a handgun to school, provided they have permit, want to have the gun in the class, and have undergone certain tactical training bought with their own money and conducted on their own time.
Agreed

Good idea, just make sure the guns are locked in a safe and make sure the keys are securely locked up.
Locking up keys in safes with keys.

I was using the example of the price of a single textbook genius.

Also do you have any idea how low those classes is on the totem pole in High School? You learn the basics and nothing more. Sure there's a break through in Science and Economics, but not at the level where a High School will teach it cause the students will have no idea what they're talking about.

You only have a half point in history also, history needs more than one year to justify adding anything to textbook. They go by large periods of time smart ass. They're not going to add ten pages to a history textbook every year and make the school pay for them, no one is that dumb.

If anyone doesn't have a clue what they're talking about it's you.

Posted by: Fire of the Rose
I like how you were dumb enough to exclude history, science, economics, etc to support your moronic point. And a classroom set of textbooks can run well over $1000.

Did I say you have to update yearly? No, but you need to keep the textbook that have current material in it. In other words a history book that doesn't list the Soviet Union as a country like some schools have.

Basically you're saying the schools should lower the standard of education to support your moronic claims about gun funds.
You don't need to update textbooks every years. Math and english stay generally the same, and same with history which you should only update every ten years.

Science also stays the same unless some new discovery changes everything.

What the hell. We Americans live in one of the safest countries in the world. Yet we are the only country that is filled with people who are so afraid of one another that we feel the need to be surrounded by armed body guards at all times. We used to be such a brave people. We even had that in our national anthem. "...and the home of the brave."

Not any more. We cower under the blanket of "Will someone please think about the children!" and arm ourselves in the eventuality that one of us will flip out.

Maybe we don't deserve our 'Murrica attitude. Maybe we are all old women cowering in the night, and as such we should be the laughing stock of the world.

I already contradicted your dumb assertions. You still have yet to contradict mine. When you do (which I highly doubt you will), then I'll listen. If not, then stop posting and wasting my time.

obviously i'm not a waste of time since you keep responding

If you say that the schools don't have the buy the textbooks yearly then what the Hell is the problem with them blowing the rest of their money on Safes since the money isn't going to be used for anything useful?! And any decent public school has textbooks that go up to at least the 2004 Election. Do you think that public schools are just poor, run down day care centers with low test scores?!

I'm not even advocating the schools lower the standard. However you're saying we should get Science textbooks that teach material that you get in college classes just because there is a breakthrough in that field. Schools have benchmarks to teach so that the student will be able to learn those things when they get into college.

And getting back to the schools budget, they already bought new textbooks when they take into consideration buying useless crap to get rid of their remaining money. My old high school literally bought a bunch of chairs and gave them away to a local McDonalds just to rid their budget.

It isn't about fear, it is about saftey. Would you go camping without deet because you are not afraid of mosquitoes?

What?

The two aren't comparable. Are you saying that being shot at school is as common as being bitten by a mosquito while camping? Are you THAT terrorized by the idea of a rampage shooter?

Even if what you say is true, what about technology that aids in the learning process like smart boards or computers? Even basic renovations to some schools should be in order and do take up funds.
My school still uses windos XP computers with box monitors and that is fine for me. Also, you do not need to have advanced technology to teach. It can be easier for the teacher yes, but still the kids will learn just fine using a normal whiteboard.
