Explain.
Well he didn't respond so I think that is clear. The game revitalized and opened up a new chapter for the dying adventure game genre and was hugely successful in its story telling. Hell, a lot of people prefer the game over the show (both are based on the comic). The game innovated the adventure game genre in focusing more on the narrative and character development and less on just puzzles. The game makes people want to play the next episode and people enjoy each and every one and gain immersion into the story.
No other game this year has been able to do what TWD has done.
While all of that is true, from what I've heard of it, TWD has all of the makings of a great game...without the game part.
Having a fantastic story isn't innovative, it's an expectation of a quality product. Sure the WD may have one, but it is little more than an interactive tv show. How can it be judged on the standards of a game if it's hardly a game? It'd be more fair to judge it on the standards that it presents itself as worthy of being compared too, which is a tv show.
Yeah sure, it's got player choice, but so do these things, and I somehow doubt you'll see one of those win any GOTY awards any time soon.
See, you are still climbing ladders by moving your stick up, you still aim and shoot with the mouse in ego and you run around by yourself and choose where to look for what you need, just like you would in every FPS, Strategy Game or whatever you call game.
I see that it might seem like that, but it's really not just an "interactive movie". It's safe to call it a real game.
