Obvious topic, just thought it would be nice to bring up.
(for the poll)I think both Battle Rifle and Assault Rifle should return I mean. The Assault Rifle is good for ripping up Grunts, some Flood, and MP opponents(next to the old pistol in that game). The Battle Rifle specializes in light sniping, ulitmate weapon for headshots(except for the Sniper Rifle DER DER DER). I find both weapons would be best for 3. Fitting someones fighting style and possible form new strategies.
But besides that, now the main topic. Firing modes..some say it's too much. I don't think so. It should have two modes: Single Shot and Three round burst, auto would be too unbalanced. Single Shot would be excellent for SWAT, Grunts, or if you like the PP/BR Combo. it would be more accurate, more bullets you fire quickly, the less accurate you are. Single shot would make good light sniping tecniques. Three round burst is good for killing a few opponents. And faster. At a closer range. The way to switch between them would have to be with the D-pad, seeing as it is not used much exept for talk and putting down the gun. Those two things can remain, but left and right would be the switch. Like say the default mode is three shot, press right to switch to single, press left again to go back to good ol' three round burst. OR, as how Bungie almost did, make it when you are unscoped, three shot. Scoped, single shot. But that would just make Rifle games harder on som,e of the bigger maps. So the directional pad idea fits best.
Assault Rifle jsut stays automatic, obviously.
P.S: I've heard that Bungie will put the SMG in Halo 3, true or not? I find that good, it would balance the Assault Rifle, in a way. More damaging, jsut less accurate. WHEN DUEL WEILDED with another. Alone it stinks unless you have grenades.
