Obvious topic, just thought it would be nice to bring up.

(for the poll)I think both Battle Rifle and Assault Rifle should return I mean. The Assault Rifle is good for ripping up Grunts, some Flood, and MP opponents(next to the old pistol in that game). The Battle Rifle specializes in light sniping, ulitmate weapon for headshots(except for the Sniper Rifle DER DER DER). I find both weapons would be best for 3. Fitting someones fighting style and possible form new strategies.

But besides that, now the main topic. Firing modes..some say it's too much. I don't think so. It should have two modes: Single Shot and Three round burst, auto would be too unbalanced. Single Shot would be excellent for SWAT, Grunts, or if you like the PP/BR Combo. it would be more accurate, more bullets you fire quickly, the less accurate you are. Single shot would make good light sniping tecniques. Three round burst is good for killing a few opponents. And faster. At a closer range. The way to switch between them would have to be with the D-pad, seeing as it is not used much exept for talk and putting down the gun. Those two things can remain, but left and right would be the switch. Like say the default mode is three shot, press right to switch to single, press left again to go back to good ol' three round burst. OR, as how Bungie almost did, make it when you are unscoped, three shot. Scoped, single shot. But that would just make Rifle games harder on som,e of the bigger maps. So the directional pad idea fits best.

Assault Rifle jsut stays automatic, obviously.

P.S: I've heard that Bungie will put the SMG in Halo 3, true or not? I find that good, it would balance the Assault Rifle, in a way. More damaging, jsut less accurate. WHEN DUEL WEILDED with another. Alone it stinks unless you have grenades.

Well then obviously your an idiot.

Single shot would be more accurate, three shot has more recoil, jitting around the gun. Also it would save more ammo in those times of ammo famine. Automatic would be way to much, too easy to kill something. That's why we have the Assault Rifle.

Firing Modes. Since it is a battle riffle it should have two firing modes like most in the military do.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

That is true, they almost had the Single shot option on the BR in Halo 2!

Never Underestimate the Power of Nerds.

It should be like the early version of the BR, when it's not zoomed in, 3 round burst. When it's zoomed in, singe shot.

I agree, but only if it is balanced enough.

Ya but then it would be too weak for shields. I say single shot is just best for shooting in non sheild games or when shields are out, zoom in while triple burst would still kill faster. Owell. All opinion.

Hmmm..What about secondary firing modes for some weapons?

I honestly don't see where you're coming from with this. Yes weapons have changed rates of fire, but it doesnt make the weapon stronger, only for like the sniping idea GO EAGLES had, this wouldnt really help the weapon instead of just making there be less recoil, but if you think about it, there really isnt a lot of recoil in Halo at all for any weapon, only a little.

So there would have to be significant recoil normally for the BR for there to be really any reason for different firing modes, and -a diseeze- whats up man, I thought we talked about thinking before posting..

Well it saves ammo. sounds cool, etc. I guess I got it from the Tom Clancy games. I think it would make the player think a little. Accuracy wouldn't decrease much, though.

I think Bungie ditched that idea for a reason. They couldn't get it balanced for multiplayer. If they made the rounds more powerful so that single shot would be more useful, then the burst mode would be overpowered and cheap. On the other hand, if they dubbed the bullets down so that burst mode wasn't so cheap, then it would take too many trigger pulls to take someone down with semi-auto, and take the effectivness out of using it.
