Progmetal>all other metal. IMO.
I cant stand most metal because of the combination of the fans and musicians being total twats. Like how metal fans will listen to a band that is complet -blam!- and then claim that other people just dont understand it and they dont have an open mind about music.
I cant stand people (wether it's the musician or the fan) that try to be "brutal." There's nothing brutal about some dude wearing skinny jeans and dying his chick hair all in the name of a false sense of superiority. Music doesn't have to be brutal. It can be, but it doesnt have to be. If you really must write repetitive winey songs then do it, but dont scream and distort your guitars just so you can call it brutal.
I love music. Some of the music i love is metal. But i like when a guy in a metal band can be a genuine dude and isn't on a mission to prove he's the greatest, most intense person to walk the earth. I enjoy talking about metal with people who actually listen to the music and don't just adopt a scene in an effort to be different.
Sums up my view on the metal genre and fans
I agree here as well, funny thing is, kids like those, think theyre being individuals when theyre just flocking to another scene. That's one thing i forgot to mention, i like metal, but the fans can turn me off sometimes, especially when it comes to well known metal bands. They can consist of kids who are new to the scene and they feel the need to be "br00tal" and what not, its dumb. I myself was kinda part of that scene once but i have long ago sepreated myself from any kind of "scene" or group or following. These days i just tend to dress in a manner that wont attract negative or positive attention really.
