"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle- victorious"

[Continuing on from title]

..... the lore of a particular franchise?

I think developers should accommodate for players who don't understand. For those of you who don't have a clue about what I'm saying, I'm referencing to the fact that developers are beginning to weave more lore into their games. It's a positive change that should be welcomed imo. But a huge question arises, should developers take the time to explain the story to players who are not invested into the lore?

It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank god that such men lived. ----------- No Bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country. (both by George S. Patton jr.)

I think they should but I am not sure that it could work out that way

Life is a journey, if you spend all of it with your nose in your map, you may miss some of the best parts.

Yes.

I didn't understand Halo 4 at all.

I find it annoying when I'm mid series into a game, and the developers are still giving basic clues/hints into the story of the game. Like seriously, I know who the good guys are and I know who the bad guys are.

Because aliens.

Come on, as if games don't hold your hand enough today. If you don't get the lore, look it up on a wiki.

Make it an optional thing and sure. But if it is mandatory like some tutorials hell no.

A small recap would be nice.
Doesn't even have to be in the game, just written in the manual or something.

Yes. Definitely. I can see how Halo 4 would be extremely confusing to a new player.

It depends on the situation. If the lore was in a book the developers should explain some of it. Developers shouldn't explain things if the lore was in a previous game in the series.

"Man, look at all these old titles we can sell."

"Yeah, this SUCKS."

"Hey! Why don't we catch the players up on what's going on so we don't have to sell this outdated garbage anymore?"

"You. You are my Jesus Christ. Let's do it."

And that's how Derpygame Studios lost money.

Thanks for reading my signature!

Not if it impacts the story. Mass Effect 3 did that terribly, it has 0 link to ME2 unless you party the ME lore very hard. I'm way out of the Assassins Creed loop, I got 5 minutes into Revelations before realizing I needed to continue from 2 rather than dive in, made me quite pleased since its obvious they focused on story.
