Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

People in The Flood are acting more and more like a clique.

They even have a thread about "how to be accepted in The Flood".

I believe this is a continuation of the mentality that caused the Zanzibar v. Flood wars.

Is this worrying to anyone else?

If you read the replies in that thread you'd realise that it wasn't accepted very well amongst the general Flood people.

It's not really worrying me since the "Zanzibar Vs. Flood" wars were just petty flaming and spamming. It really wasn't much of a big deal.

The Frozen Minority - The most infamous clan borne from the Seventh Column.

It is a bit offputting, the Flood is becoming more like a private group now.

The older members seem to be diffirentiating themselves from people based on more and more things; join dates, forum preference, rememberace of certain dates/ other members (Twitch, Mr_Crapper, the quote pyramid, etc).

Not really anything you can do about it at all but it is driving me away a little.

dude, you pulled a jesus!

That thread was more or less just the normal rules along with the starter's biased opinions... but yes the members are starting to divide each other. There isn't much to prevent this... actually there's nothing you can anywhere you see it happening, really...

What we're seeing in The Flood is much like what you can observe in any School or Work environment. Leaders emerge for all the right (or right wrong) reasons, and others follow and try to mimic the leader's success. It's normal human behavior, and it's not the core of the problem.

The problem is with the quality of the leaders that are emerging. They dictate the entire mood of the forum because sycophants will inevitably attempt to mimic them. So, if the popular leader of the forum is an ass, the majority of the forum will follow his example because they think that it is the social norm.

Do we... you know... assassinate some of the members? These popularity contests are growing out of hand, it reminds me of the Flood Government but on a slower, more subtle vibration.

The Flood has had cliques for a long time. Most online forums have groups of members who have been around a long time and think they are surperior. I try to treat everyone with respect. Some of the other other forums don't have clicks because everyone gets flamed.

If you look closely at the listing of the forums on your right, you will notice that "the flood" is at the bottom. Coincedence? I think not. May God have mercy on those who are trapped in the flood.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

It's been like that for a while now actually; the leaders change (Formerly, Obbiquiet was king of the flood, and there were several other members that gained great "power," but I can't recall their names. Not that it matters.), but that elitism and herd mentality will never go away. Just tell yourself how stupid they are for priding themselves for exclusively posting in a forum that is accesible to anyone with an internet connection, and you will probably feel better.

The Flood has always just been a fun place to post about random things anyway, and if some people take it seriously, then it's their problem and you shouldn't let it bother you.

I like the private groups much more than ANY of the main forums. Simply because the members tend to be nicer and respect every one else.

The Flood is a strange place to be as a visitor and get's even stranger as you stay there longer. But it's still a fun place to hang around when you are tired of "intelligent conversation"...God knows you won't find any of that in The Flood.

The Flood has become too repetitive...one day you could post a Topic that becomes really popular and full of ideas, as soon as it dies from the front page, a Copy Cat thread will appear...mostly by people who want to say "Ooh look I have create an Original Post that is popular"...it doesn't matter how popular your threads are you post...it is your personality and how you interact in the community that matters.

I'm not going to deny I act like that some of the time, but its in a much more mature and light-humored way than the little twelve year olds (no offense to any reading this) that post on there. They act stupid and think its funny, or like was said earlier, copy somebody else to try and get more "popular."

  • 07.06.2006 9:22 PM PDT

*is suddenly offended, although only because was told not to be*

yeah, i doubt stuff like that will happen. Though i will say that when you go from forum to forum, you do see certain people who are, shall we say, descriptions of the forum. I can say that people like mabian, senor leche, a few mods, alexander, and definately a few other people are what the Septagon is most like. I can say that TGP, KPaul, and a slight mixture of New Mombasa and The Flood is in The Underground. And naming of characters in the flood would make a list longer than the role of toilet paper can fit.

In a way, its very cool, but in another way, its freaky.

I'm not worried about it. (Here it comes, basically saying what Barron said.) Stuff like this happens everywhere. You have someone who draws in attention, a few people find it funny/great/whatever, and then more people try to be like that person so they can have the attention for five seconds. It can get annoying when someone sees something great in something stupid, so they in turn try to act stupid to popular. I sometimes create posts in the Flood because I have either found some article I found interesting. Most of the time I will probably have two or three people who post saying "too long" or post with only reading the title (which for me is usually some sort of pun, so it has nothing to do with the post). It does get annoying, but hey, if I can get someone to have a discussion with me, then hopefully people will follow and turn it into a good discussion with many different sides and opinions. I’ll continue to post what I find interesting even if other don’t because there is bound to be someone out there who would want to discuss that topic. Regardless, people will always follow what is popular, but that doesn't mean you have to follow it as well.

I think the only ones making a clique are the older members who claim to be more mature and cooler, yet they constantly insult other members for no reason, its quite sickening when they become cold hearted jerks....

  • 07.06.2006 10:15 PM PDT

(10:19:49 PM) Scruss: oh and pezza, i saw what you did to that cat
(10:20:17 PM) Pezza: You were the one with the video camera breathing heavily. Of course you saw.

To tell the truth, the flood is really full of crazy people. They ramble on about nothing most of the time.

For Carnage, Apply Within.

I have returned from the Untamed Lands. MOAP is dead.

I often wondered if the Flood was deleted, would groups become more useful?

Probably not. Remember how New Mombasans claimed the Zanzibarbarians raped and pillaged their forum. people will just flock to where they get the most attention.

If I understand you correcly, you would have that people just join groups, i too would like that, but most likely we'd just see even more offtopic remarks in Mombasa, underground or *gasp* halo 3.

halo 3 forum is definitly the worst. tho i call it my home its........pretty bad

the same topic is posted about 5 times a day

flaming is incessant

(pardon my grammer by the way)

and there is a general...........lack of unity

i myself have tried to become a well known member of H3 and i have, but there are a hanful of ppl who hate me just cuz i post well, provide evidence, and am generally a nice guy.

so while the flood has their "caste" H3 will always be a warzone man
