Kids these days have been through all of the apocalypse scares, and I know why. See, back in the day, there was danger. Actual danger. In the pre-1800s, there were undiscovered islands and lands. In the 1800s-1900s, there were uncivilized, barren parts of America. In the 1900s-1950s, there were gangs and rampant crime. After that, there was the Cold War.

Nowadays, there is no danger, and that makes everyone bored as hell. So they invent these apocalypse "threats".
