Seriously, Marvel has found its groove. We are seriously getting a Guardians of the Galaxy movie before Wonder Woman, Flash, and Aquaman. Anyone else find that funny?

DC is also rushing to make a Justice League movie for 2015, after Avenger's success. That's right, they're just jumping to a JL movie. No build up or anything. They're introducing big time players like rebooted Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, etc. with the audience knowing nothing about them. Hell there's a new Superman as well, as Nolan and Zack Snyder said their new Man of Steel will be its own universe.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

Marvel just got the guts to do it first.

Because Marvel have Iron Man.

  • 12.31.2012 8:28 AM PDT

Marvel was brave enough to do 5 build up movies (Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger) for The Avengers. That itself is pretty risky. I imagine DC wanted to but were too scared to do it.

Anyway, Man of Steel looks a million times better than any Marvel movie.

The only good movies DC has is The Batman trilogy, which is only because Nolan had complete control over them. I can't wait to see how DC butchers the Batman reboot in JL.

This thread isn't about individual opinions. It's an undeniable fact that, regardless of what you personally think about the film quality, Marvel has translated incredibly successfully to the cinema-verse, and DC hasn't.

Marvel got great cartoons. Spidey: TAS, X-Men cartoons, Dr. Strange, etc.

The only one to have an actual movie in recent times is Batman. And look how well the dark knight trilogy has done. And with the man of steel coming out next year, which also looks really good, obviously more DC heroes will follow suit.

I too am amazed that we've seen more obscure characters like Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy first in movies over more popular and iconic characters like Wonder Woman.

Batman trilogy was made entirely by Nolan and was it's own entity, it's not counted in the DC movieverse.

Also, Green Lantern was an attempt by them to start their own movie verse. It failed miserably.

Green Lantern? I know it failed hard, but it still counts as DC attempting to create a cinematic universe.

EDIT: I dun goofed.

Don't. It's bad. Not in the way Iron Man 2 was called bad, or Halo 4, more along the lines of Big Rigs bad.

Meepzoid

Why is it so pathetic? Simple, time.

I have no favorite but it's clear DC/WB is rushing a JL movie simply because of the reception and wealth that the Avengers got.

Problem is, even before Iron Man, Marvel was planning to create an universe/movieverse. Looking at it, that means Marvel originally planned this out in early 2000's/ whenever Iron man was being pitched.

The Dark Knight Trilogy /Nolan films came into fruition in the early 2000's also. At this time it was obvious there will not be a movie verse simply because no other comic movies have done this, so DC/WB gave them the green light to make whatever Batman series they wanted.

Superman's reboot only came into fruition after the failure of that crap in 2006. After 2006, I'm pretty sure they were in limbo to continue the series or reincarnate it. So that took a lot of planning and it's clear the new Superman movie is also in it's own universe.

They could have use the Green Lantern as a start but even then, it was clear by 2011 that they still didn't conceive the idea of a movieverse.

TL:DR

They should just wait off making more DC movies until they finish the MoS series, reboot Batman and Superman and create new movies with new Heroes then give us the JL movie. There current plan of rebooting Batman or showing a new Batman in the JL movie will just create confusion for the viewers.

Them Batman movies don't really count, as they're not part of an extended universe of any description. They're also pretty poor as actual Batman adaptations.

DC confirmed they wouldn't be putting out any more movies until 2015 after Superman, so unless you expect them to release some kind of movie salvo that year, it's pretty clear they're just going to dive into JLA.

Guardians of the Galaxy are more iconic than Wonder Woman and Flash?

Plus, Batman and Superman beat out pretty much everything in Marvel except maybe Spiderman (who isn't even a part of the movieverse).

Iron Man has reached immense popularity now though from the movies, I'd say he's top tier now.

Turkey

DC had the better series-verse, Marvel has the better movie-verse.

Superman is also dumb.
