Time for people to man up (*snort*) and deal with it. People are always looking for easy ways to make money, and frivolous lawsuits like this are just pathetic. I seriously hope the judge looks at this situation and throws the book at the woman. I really do.

Once again, the woman isn't suing. The state is.

People need to learn to read.

Your reading comprehension skills are astounding. I just wanted to tell you that.

Now if you will excuse me, I'm going to go in the corner over there and cry for the future of the human race.

For the 10th time, it's the state going after the man. Not the women.

And it's the man's fault that she can't maintain a steady cash flow to care for the child? He did nothing. He made a donation to a sperm bank. It's stupid.

Sorry. As far as I'm concerned, this is very weak grounds for a lawsuit. The state (in fact, that whole region) needs to get with the game plan. They're making this country so much worse looking on so many levels.

And lol at those telling me my reading comprehension is terrible. Considering I really didn't read the article, yes, it sure is.

And Charlie, you've made stupid remarks in the past, let's not create a double standard here mate, one will do just fine.

Why don't you read the article, and then respond? Seriously. You are killing my faith that the human race will have a future.

He responded to a Craigslist ad. I'm not sure a sperm bank was even involved.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

People should read one of the articles before posting. One of the women has come out clearly in support of the donor, saying that the state is screwing up. The women are NOT asking for financial support from him.

Frankly, Kansas is playing politics and trying to mess with a -blam!- couple because they can. It's punishment.

Having said that, way too many people will do anything for a free buck from the government. Some of us in that 53% are getting sick of how easy it is to go on the dole.

They are just signing up for medicaid for the kid. Its not like they are going on welfare. Kids should be able to see a doctor.

Correct. For those too stupid to figure this out:

1. Gay couple want a child
2. -blam!- couple do not want to pay super high costs of insemination at a clinic
3. Women post on Craigslist looking for donor
4. Man responds
5. Man wants a contract absolving him of all responsibility - women agree. Contract signed, sperm given.
6. Gay couple has child
7. Gay couple break up
8. Single mother files for Medicaid because she needs medical care for her child. State says screw you to contract and goes after donor father.
9. Women say leave him alone, he isn't at fault. State sues anyway.

Right, because the mom isn't working because of an unexplained "significant illness."

The 47% of Americans who don't pay taxes. You know the homeless, children, old people, veterans. Those freeloaders.

If one of the mother's "significant illnesses" is the part of this article you have problems with, perhaps you need to reevaluate your worldview.

How do they even know that he has money to give? He might have other kids to take care of. People will make up anything just to get money. This is bullcrap.
The women aren't suing him, the state is.

When a single mother applies for state aid, the state often tries to recoup its costs by suing the father.

Don't the women have to tell the state about their situation and that they need money?

They applied for medicare for the kid. This is pretty common. The state law said they had to list the father on the birth certificate, since Kansas doesn't recognize civil unions.

Do the have to take money from the guy? Or does the state force him to pay?

That's just fed income tax. Most of those people pay payroll taxes, and other taxes.

Believe what you want, it is incredibly easy to go on the dole. I watched all my relatively well off friends do it. And only until their benefits ran out did they panick and find jobs.

I'm still not sure where you're getting that 47% figure from.

In this case, I highly doubt the women or the sperm donor are committing anything remotely fraudulent.
