I've heard a lot about Cortana's voice in the trailer, and I agree it possibly has some deep meaning, but to point something out about how people think Gravemind is controlling her, its this.

She's an AI construct, which can only be controlled by what her code tells, and even so, she can think for herself. Gravemind, being an organic substance, cannot control her.

Second of that, why her voice is deep? I'm guessing because she's half a galaxy away, give or take. And what happens to a voice when connection is failing? It gets scratchy and possibly deep, and to add to this, shes an electronic piece of equipment that the voice is simulated, this is probably just malfunction on her voice part being that she is half a galaxy away.

But thats it, for you guys who are trying to figure out what it all means, keep it up.

And sorry if this has been pointed out before, I dont have time to scroll threw several hundred pages of info.

Hole in your theory: The Flood can manipulate machinery, including computer systems. Cortana is an AI, part of a computer system, therefore manipulate-able by the Flood. Just like 2401 Penitent Tangent.

This doesn't prove or disprove anything though. Just means that it can be done.

The general consensus right now is that the AI Cortana has gone rampant. That is, it has been faced with certain death at the hands of the Gravemind, and realizing its mortality, digital or organic, has decided to work in the Gravemind's favor for the sake of its own survival, rather than obeying the presets that it was created to carry out. Sentiency, in other words.

I don't think its a matter of an organic beast controlling a digital entity's components so much as it is a case of purely mental and emotional influence over its better judgment.

Yea I thought about this, the Flood are very smart, to an extent, but I realized, if Gravemind could just control Cortana, why did he have to ask her? Or to at least answer his questions. I dont know, I think its plausible that the Flood can control machinery, but honestly to an extent of an AI? AI's arent meant to be controlled, and Cortana has the ability to even send herself to a place that even Gravemind couldnt get her.

And to the point that shes rampant... didnt we just see her looking good aproximately an hour from the end or so? I think instead of the weight of the circumstances making her go rampant, I think the weight of the circumstances brought her back down to earth, realizing the situation for the greater good of HUMANITY.

And I know the lifespan thing, but hasnt Cortana been around only like 5 years, and wasnt she supposed to be a new one? So her capabilities of lifespan have yet to be determined, but thats a good point.

Doesnt cotana have to be inside the MC or some sort of holo panal for her to work? i think the trailer was showing cortana just to make you wonder whats happend to her. she wasnt acually there talking to MC.

Hey you never know it never said he was organic and even if he could have a device to capture Cortana so this does shatter your "plan"! But personaly I agree im simply saying that you have no proof.

She told Dr. Halsey though that her Priority Alpha Commands were still intact....I wonder what her Priority Commands were, or if they were altered.

A living being can obviously only be of organic or mechanical origin, and I doubt the Gravemind is the latter. Seeing as the Flood are more or less a hive-minded race of viral tumors, I'd say its a safe bet that the Gravemind is indeed of 'organic' composition.

She's probably been brainwashed, she can think on her own, which opens that opportunity, the gravemind clearly is controlling her in some way in that message, you can hear his voice underneath hers in her first two lines

Everyone knows it is not static. I mean it is not a coincidence that the static sounds exactly like the Graveminds voice. Besides who knows what the Gravemind is capable of? It was able to teleport the Master Chief and the Arbiter to different places. Think about it.
